Im really happy about this player and thank god I didnt go for the sony ones. My neighbours got the equivalent sony player but still cant use the usb port because it doesnt recognise any kind of external disk or smaller usb player for some reason. Maybe its the fact their tv is a Toshiba or they need to connect the player to the internet for update, I dont know! But this Lg unit is amazing and I would reccomend it to anyone, especially at this price!
All in all, its fantastic. An easy to use remote as well.
Would happily buy another
and it integrated seamlessly with my network a mixture of W7,Vista,and XP
So all in all one happy bunny
This device has problems with certain mp3 itunes/amazon music files if they are not compatable there is a sound drop of 50 pc...but i have seen this problem reported for nearly all blue ray players so its...normal?,having said that it will tell you if the song ...for instance is compatable, also video files that it will play were a problem but again cant really complain because the list of file types it will play is good compared to other more expensive players.
The media software that comes with this is ok but it tried to force a payment to use the auto update program then crashed when i tried to bypass,so dont update the nero software and all will be fine.
The wifi connection is ok when using netcast but try downloading media from a computer and it will take a long time
,having said that you can attach a hard drive/mem stick which would certainly help.
The wifi connection kept disappearing or crashing every 15 mins,I could have tried a ethernet cable,or a home plug, but the downs vs the ups were against the device for me so sadly i have sent it back and gone for the Sony BDPS470B 3D Ready Blu-ray Disc Player with Full HD 1080P which is slighty more money.
Come on LG sort out netcast! and the stupid wifi, this is a very good blueray player but its no media centre!
Audio and DVD works ok. Good upscaling for Full HD tv. Automatic CD play.
Blue Ray is ok, good startup speed and with all the functionality (BD Live also).
Wifi already in the unit (54g) with easy setup for all the security keys.
Ethernet also possible.
System updates software and firmware (already 2 times in 2 weeks) via wifi.
Best features are the Youtube, Picasa and Weather.
Specially the Youtube application is wonderfull. With 54g wifi you can watch all movies in the couch. Good interface, easy search system. Video information and quick change for full screen (good image for 480p movies).
The player have an USB port for External disk or pen. You can see Video, Photo or Audio.
Lots of formats accepted. Subtitles work. Can replace HD Media player easly.
I'm very happy with the unit.
