Its not just a disc player, its a media player. This means no more pc's or laptops need to be present and no more long cables. All you need to watch your favourite downloaded movies is a normal usb flash player or your external hard disk. You just connect with the devices usb port and it immediately recognises it and loads all your stuff on the screen. You can then control what file you are playing with your dvd remote control or even your LG TV's remote that holds the SIMPLELINK sign. Its very simple and beautiful to use. These are what made me give it a 5 star though there are things I didnt like but didnt think were important to be and dont plan to use them. For example You tube doesnt fuction very well and quality aint that good. Maybe they were settings I needed to figure out but since I didnt care I didn stick to that more then five minutes. Something else I didnt like is that I didnt manage to wirelessly stream stuff from my laptop directly to the tv. The blu ray player keeps asking me for a password when I tried to do it. Nevertheless, since I have all my films and music on external discs I didnt worry much and never tried this feature again since I dont need to use it. The built in wifi works fine though and has already downloaded and updated twice.
Im really happy about this player and thank god I didnt go for the sony ones. My neighbours got the equivalent sony player but still cant use the usb port because it doesnt recognise any kind of external disk or smaller usb player for some reason. Maybe its the fact their tv is a Toshiba or they need to connect the player to the internet for update, I dont know! But this Lg unit is amazing and I would reccomend it to anyone, especially at this price!
