Get Ready To Build
The first step in the construction of your 911 GT3 RS is to build the drivetrain, complete with dual clutch gearbox (PDK), paddle shifters, suspension and the heart of the 911 GT3 RS, the 4.0fl at 6 engine.
During production of the real 911 GT3 RS there is a stage called the ‘marriage’, where the drivetrain is connected to the body of the car. In this step you build the floor plan of the 911 GT3 RS, complete with seats and roll cage, before placing it over the drivetrain in a similar way to the production of the real 911 GT3 RS.
Start to assemble the body of your 911 GT3 RS. Starting with the rear of the car and then onto the build of the iconic hood, now with distinctive shaping. Then it’s the roof, again with distinctive shaping indicating the lightweight magnesium design only found on the 911 GT3 RS.
Build the front before adding the distinctive wheel arches with air outlets only found on the 911 GT3 RS. Next you add the massive, motorsport inspired, adjustable rear wing before finishing off your 911 GT3 RS by adding the doors and the exclusive wheels.

I'm not actually a huge fan of Porsche's cars - although I did really enjoy building the Lego Ferrari F40 a couple of years ago - but after receiving a gift voucher, I cast around for a Lego set to buy with it, and decided on this one. I'm very glad I did!
This is, without a doubt, the most intricate and complex Technic set in the range. The finished car includes a 4-speed sequential gearbox operated by steering-wheel paddles, with an additional selector for forward / reverse / neutral. It has a working flat-six engine, double wishbone suspension all round and rack-and-pinion steering. It even has Porsche-branded brake calipers on every wheel (albeit rectangular rather than curved, but then that's hardly surprising with Lego!)
Just opening the box is an experience - this is the best-packaged Lego set I have ever seen, with the pieces packed into four individual inner boxes and the wheels displayed in a fifth. The assembly instructions run to over 500 pages, and the book includes an introduction section talking about the creation of the set.
So far, I've spent around 5 hours on this, and am about 2/3 of the way through building it. It's already hugely impressive.
There are a couple of small niggles - the pieces in each box are not further subdivided into individual numbered bags, so you'll need some sorting trays to make sense of the several hundred pieces in each box. Also, as someone else has mentioned, the detailed engineering is all hidden once the bodywork is in place, so make sure you play with the drivetrain (and understand the sheer genius of its construction) before you build the rest!
But don't let those put you off. This is, hands down, the best Technic set I have ever built. If you like Technic, you want this...
Its big, beautiful and technically very the detailed!
overall it took along time to build and Lego have made a few small mistakes which are easily overcome with the help of Google!
All fully functioning and the of detail in the packaging, parts and instructions is superb. I would say not for the more junior builders are there are simply too many sections where you need to keep flipping the model through 90, 180, 240 degrees to get the right parts in the right places but for the older builders and ADULTS this is a truly great build!
Starting with the manual this kit is a work of art with over 200 Pages this keepsake book not only clearly indicates how to build but also tells you how the real GT3 Porsche is built.
Be prepared to take around.20 hours to build this model with plenty of challenging areas along the way I nearly docked a star because some parts just show you a picture of the model and you have to spot the difference and where the new parts fit in - This happened white a bit during the build not sure whether that's Legos way of getting you to think like a real builder or just lake of care in creating the manual. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed the build.
Once built you have something that can be displayed for years to come excellent.
There were no missing pieces, everything fitted together beautifully and the instructions are very simple to follow but the best thing about this Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the presentation - the box is a work of art in itself, the instruction manual is more of a collectors item than it is useful, well once you've put the car together anyway!
If you like Lego, you like Porsche, and you can afford it then you will not regret this. I certainly don't
The exterior of the car is recognizable even for someone outside of the automotive industry.
The packaging is undoubtedly something out of a premium item.
The only downside, which is already something in my opinion, is the lack of official instructions to integrate motorized features. Anyway, not something to prevent me from classifying this with five stars. Hope Lego starts thinking about releasing more sets like this with motorized features.
