I've had many alarm clocks over the years, but they've all been complicated fiddly things whose designers obviously thought that adults should spend a minimum of 15 minutes trying to figure out how to program a wake-up alarm, because being an adult is miserable work anyway. Not so with Lego alarm clocks.

To set the time and the alarm, you simply press the "Time Set" or "Alarm Set" buttons on Barbossa's back, and toggle the hours and minutes to the correct settings. And then there's a simple on/off for the alarm, and you hit him over the head if you want to snooze. So it's ideal for adults who just want a simple alarm clock, or for kids who are at that age where they want to do these things themselves. The clock even comes with batteries included, which is a minor miracle in 2013!

The alarm itself begins as a series of slow beeps, and then gradually speeds up if you don't hit snooze or off in time. My only complaint is that the alarm could be slightly louder, as I don't think people with a hearing impairment would be able to hear it too well, but on a bedside table right next to the bed it's not really a problem.

The alarm clock is also posable - the legs move forwards and backwards, the wrists rotate, and the arms move up and down. There's no articulation in the head, understandably, as this is where the snooze mechanism is. It's also a lovely detailed figure, and is identical to the minifigure you'd get in Lego POTC sets - apart from the fact there's a clock in his tummy.

Highly recommended for POTC fans, Lego fans, good alarm clock fans (do these exist?) or people who love a bit of novelty.

It's a lego clock, of Captain Hector Barbossa, go buy one...... go on!

Being serious, this is a great item. The clock is visible across a room, and the alarm is turned off by (gently, he is a pirate) hitting his head!
The figure is pose-able and his hands can hold things, however the main attraction is the detail of his costume and hat, looking just as it did in the lego video game (and a great proximity to the one worn by Geoffrey Rush in the movies)

As much fun as you can have with an alarm clock, apart from throwing one out of a window!
