I've been waiting a long time for this game to come out and it has been much more detailed and incredible than I thought it would be. It is absolutely joyous to fly around New York City as Iron Man or Human Torch.

There is two player co-op and one player can play on the gamepad which is a nice option. It works well (as does normal split screen.) The gamepad isn't utilised well if you aren't using it for co-op. It shows a map/character selection but it seems like an afterthought and it isn't very intuitive. It's handier to use the screen.

The only version I've played on another console was the PS3 demo and I would say that the Wii U graphics are better. The characters seem much more "shiny" and sharp looking.

The only downside is that game is quite glitchy. My Wii U has locked up three times early in the game, some parts of levels didn't trigger for me properly, the same goes for a boss battle which needed to be tried a few times for it to trigger the cut-scene and end the level. From what I've read those glitches aren't exclusive to the Wii U and effect all of the console and the PC version. Most games in the Lego series have suffered from pretty much identical issues so it isn't unheard of.

I'm only about 10% into the game itself and it is excellent. A huge open world full of treasures to explore, an amazing roster of characters and a plot that's genuinely funny and interesting.

I've always enjoyed the nonsense of Lego games. They are usually just pure silly fun.
This one ramps it all up a notch, and is absolutely fantastic. I don't even care much for marvel, and that doesn't matter one bit.
You own a wii u because you understand gaming to be about the childlike awe and wonder that playing games keeps you in. This is up there with some of the best. We'll worth your investment.

“Lego Marvel Super Heroes” is an action-adventure videogame that is part of the ongoing Lego saga, and based on the Marvel universe (both the comics and films). It’s a really fun game, intended for children (age 7+) and adults. It follows the gameplay style of the other Lego titles (such as ‘Batman’ and ‘Star Wars’), and is a vibrant, colourful, and humorous videogame.

You can play as one of 180 characters, each with their own unique abilities (e.g. Spiderman can spin webs, while the Hulk can throw and smash large objects). There are several environments to roam around in, such as Lego versions of New York City and Asgard. There are 15 missions in the single-player campaign, as well as 12 side missions. To complete the story will take about 8 to 12 hours (and to collect all pieces and fulfil all the objectives will take about 100 hours) – so there’s plenty of entertainment value with this game.

There are lots of fantastic characters to play as (and to fight against), from Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom to Magneto, Iron Man, and Wolverine. It’s great to experience this crossover Marvel universe, with the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Spiderman, etc.. The ultimate aim is to thwart the attempt of Galactus to conquer the Earth.

This is one of the best Lego videogames available. It has a 2-player cooperation mode (using the same console). It has fantastic graphics (especially on the Wii U), a good story, and great music. If you’ve enjoyed any of the other Lego games then I recommend this one.

I bought this before I had the Wii U to play it on, and after finally getting round to playing it, have to admit this is a terrific, addictive game. There is a heck of a lot of content here: 250 gold brick to collect, side missions and races, 115 characters – from the famous to the obscure - to play as after you unlock them throughout the course of the game. The levels and missions are varied and at no point does it feel samey, each level feeling fresh and significantly different to the last. There are some great in-jokes and references – using the Nick Fury/Samuel L Jackson character to slip in some (toned down) Snakes on a Plane and Pulp Fiction quotes was inspired. At completion I must have racked up a good 40-50 hours gameplay; a large portion of which admittedly will be my five-year-olds randomly roaming NYC. As a Marvel fan this is nerdvana, and it’s introducing my children to new characters they weren’t familiar with – they’ve suddenly taken up an interest in characters like the Silver Surfer and Mr Fantastic. My children also like the fact that, in 2 player mode, 1 player is on the TV screen and the other on the Wii U gamepad, rather than having a TV splitscreen.

This game is let down by glitches. It pains me to say it for a game released in 2013 on an eighth generation console, but there are a lot of glitches. This game has crashed so many times - thankfully only once during a level - it mostly seems to happen during roaming around NYC. On top of that, pedestrians in the city will randomly start walking in mid-air, or into or through a wall. My children have had superheroes they’re playing as get stuck behind benches or stuck in lakes (tip: don’t let MODOK anywhere near a lake. You’ll be constantly dying/regenerating, without any chance of escape).
