This was a Christmas present for our 6-year old son who's already ploughed through similar titles for Batman, Marvel, Indy Jones, Star Wars...

Batman 3 has the core engine of Lego Marvel Superheroes, but with many of the little irks with that game removed. Essentially, it seems as if they've listened to the fan forums and tweaked the interface subtly to make the game that bit more fluid and user friendly.

However, it does have a huge number of its own original additions as well as all these nice fixes and a good storyline. As with LMS the story mode is over a bit too soon, but there are *loads* of extras to hunt down, characters to unlock and so forth.

My only real remaining complaint from the last couple of games is that the "race/time trial" tasks are flipping impossible. But that's probably more down to my (erm, I mean my son's) lack of gaming skills.

Firstly, I am a big fan of the Lego video games series, and I particularly enjoy the Batman titles, as well as the Lego Marvel Super Heroes game. I am also in complete agreement with those who say that these Lego titles are some of the best video game adaptations of the comic book franchises available (DC also has the brilliant Arkham series, but Marvel is somewhat lacking).

Having said this, it took me a while to get into Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. The free roaming aspect of the game is the most extensive and impressive to date, but I think it came at the expense of the story mode, which seemed rather lacking in imagination and vitality, as well as being surprisingly brief. However, I was very glad that a variety of DC superheroes and villains were made playable in the story mode, as previous titles had limited us mainly to Batman and Robin, which became repetitive (despite Batman being my favourite franchise). This game boasts a character roster of over 150, which is particularly great if you like some of the less mainstream characters (and isn't it about time the series' title was changed to Lego DC Super Heroes?) However, I was a bit disappointed to find that some of the characters' unique abilities have been stripped away and made more generic. For example, Poison Ivy used to have her own abilities (which included blowing love dust at her opponents), but now her move set is just a mirror of Catwoman's, using a vine as a whip. There are other DC stalwarts who seem to have lost their individuality, too; but there are also new characters who bring an impressive array of new powers and moves to the game (I particularly like Star Sapphire's "heart" attacks).

All in all, Lego Batman 3 is still another welcome addition to the series, thanks mostly to the free roam.

Saw the trailer and demo to this game at MCM! after completing the Marvel Lego @ 100% I just had to get this! Perfect Lego game for any fan, just like the others (in a good way!) great selection of Lego DC characters. Just awesome! would really recommend to the collection of Lego games!

After the awesomeness of Lego Batman 2 I had high hopes for this game. Unfortunately they made a few changes that meant I didn't enjoy it as much. There's no giant open world like the free-roam Gotham from the previous one (or New York from Marvel Super Heroes), instead there are a couple of smaller hub locations. The story this time is on a grander scale (it's in space, so duh), but I felt like it started off too slow then got rushed at the end. Also, this time around instead of having to find costume change points you can change a character's suits on the fly. This streamlines story play, but makes it feel a bit dumbed-down (which is saying a lot for a Lego game). Also, it gives you less reason to try out all the different characters in free play.

On the flip side, it looks great, and there is SO MUCH stuff to collect. The levels are well designed for the most part and the humour in the cut scenes is still pretty good. Overall, if you liked the previous 2 games you'll probably enjoy this one. It's just not the best one.

This is another entry into the saga that is 'Lego Batman' ... and, like its predecessors, it's a whole lot of fun. It combines action (lots of fighting) with detective work (puzzles to solve), and can be played by both adults and children alike. It really works well as a 2-player game.

Batman's world is vastly expanded here. We move beyond Gotham City to outer space! And there is a huge host of super-heroes (and villains!) to choose from, so you can play as your favourite DC character - from the Flash to Wonder Woman, from Superman to the Martian Manhunter. The story concerns the evil Brainiac - who's invading Earth, with the intention of shrinking it and adding it to his collection of planets! So you must journey around the galaxy - to various 'Green Lantern worlds' - to gather what's necessary to stop Brainiac.

This is a big game - with 45 separate missions (with over 100 characters to choose from). As with previous games, the musical score is great (based on the well-known themes from the movies and TV series). The voice actors add a lot of humour to the adventure. The graphics are great (and an improvement on the last game).

It's a game with much re-play value, as you seek to build all the various Lego items. As for myself, I found some of the puzzles quite challenging to work out (but my 7 year old nephew told me what to do) ... If you enjoy Lego games, and you're a fan of Batman, you'll probably like this. Thoroughly recommended.
