Favorite Quotes:

“Everything I’m qualified to do falls under the category of minimum wage because I have no qualifications other than being conscious.”

“I stare at him wide-eyed, feeling like that speech must have been told in my imagination. He couldn’t have laid his heart out like that, not for me. I swear I can’t catch my breath. His words… his strong body… he’s stolen the air from my lungs.”

“As soon as I had you, I wanted more of you. I want to make you mine in every way.”

“My world is never so right as when I’m with Ledger.”

My Review:

Oh swoon. I want me a Ledger! He is the perfect man, so of course he has to be a work of fiction, as those beings simply do not exist in real life. He is handsome, successful, insightful, rich, funny, smart, a stalwart protector, a thoughtful and caring individual, and a well-endowed and multi-talented lover. Sigh, I was so breathless, I actually became dizzy from just reading about his mad skills. This is my first Kemmie Michaels read and won’t be my last, as thankfully, I have two more of her books already loaded on my kindle. I adored her story and fully appreciated and reveled in a romance where the main characters are pulling together against an outside force, rather than fighting each other. Her writing was creative, easy to follow, smooth, and volcanically hot. The characters were well defined, likable, and intriguing. I was instantly hooked from page one and wasn’t able to put my kindle down for more than a few moments all day. Now excuse me as I must go - Mason is calling...

Freedom is a word most of us take for granted. Freedom to go where you want; wear what you want; say what you want and do what you want. Cam has had her freedom taken away from here for far too long by the obnoxious, power hungry Garret. Finally breaking free, she finds herself with her friend Shelby at Second Chance and into Ledger's life. But her freedom is still precariously in the balance.

The way we are introduced to both Cam and Ledger captured my attention and my heart right from the get go and they did not want to let go. Ledger is perfection personified. He knows Cam better than she knows herself. He wants Cam for who she is and supports her in finding herself. Where can I find me one of him?

This was an awesome read. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming as Cam goes on a journey of self discovery. You want so much for her to be totally free and you want so much for Ledger to be the one to help her get there.

I am in awe of the creation of Ledger as a book boyfriend and am probably spoilt for every man that comes along both real and fictional.

This is the first book of Kemmie's that I have read and I loved it!
The story was paced nicely and written brilliantly.
All the characters are awesome in their own way. The male characters are very lickable, and likeable.
I recommend this to anyone that loves a second chance, fast paced book filled with sexual tension, with a few OMG moments.

HASH(0x93bc133c) out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!! 10 Aug. 2014

I don't even know where to begin with this one. Ledger is so different from books I have been reading. He is a complete and total sweetheart and sexy to boot! This is a story about a girl who was in a rough and mentally abusive relationship. She gets out, or so she thinks. She moves in with a friend to find her own way and independence. In the mean time she meets Ledger, a sexy bartender, business owner, who wants to help her find her way. He is the guy every girl wants to have in her life. Can Ledger help her get back on her feet and be the support she needs or will her past control her!! PLEASE get this book and find out. You will not regret this!! Bravo Kemmie!!

HASH(0x93bc1900) out of 5 stars Over the Ledge(r) and Falling Gracefully 14 July 2014

Borrowed on my prime account and then purchased because I realized that I would want to read it again and then probably again. This was my first Kemmie Michaels book...I don't even know how I found it but decided to borrow this book and with 1,900 books on my kindle I sat down to read this. This book had so much of everything. It's unusual in this game of trilogies to find a stand alone that you wish would continue into two more books but since there is a related sequel Mason on its way I guess I will have to be happy with that. Somehow this book, in my mind, needed to be read as if Ledger and Cam were speaking in whispers. There was more than just physical intimacy in this story, there was a peacefulness to Ledger, a very zen type manner that I found a refreshing change from the overly large, darkness of some Alpha men I'm used to reading about. This quality also followed through to secondary character Mason. Ms. Michael's pacing was brilliant. This story never lagged, there was love and danger, there was friendship and humor and there was a humanness of these characters that grabbed you by your shirt and said "read me, you will be missing something if you don't read me." While I am not comparing this book to The Thornbirds or Bridges of Madison County, both of which have left me exhausted and changed after reading them, I will say with both of the aforementioned books when I realized there were only a few pages left, I walked away from both of those books not quite ready to end the stories I became so engaged in, I actually got to 95% of Ledger, and turned off my ereader because I wasn't ready to end my time with these people. I finished the story this morning and immediately returned the loaned book and then purchased it. I read Ms. Michael's explanation of how this story came to be and for me, based on how the characters were written, I do believe this story wrote itself and the author just let her fingers put these people down on paper as THEY told her their story. There are many reviewers who will outline the story for you in their reviews, I usually review on how a story impacted me...this is a sit down when you have the time to actually read a book story, not a chapter here, chapter there story although I do believe once you begin this book you will engage immediately. Perusing this author's page and reading excerpts of her other books strangely enough doesn't interest me at all. I will make a reminder note to check back every so often to see when Mason's book comes out...this is the series M s Michael's should focus on, this is her job to keep these people alive on pages, whether she realizes this or not, these are the characters that are written from her heart.

HASH(0x93bc17c8) out of 5 stars ....Ledger... 18 Jan. 2015

**Copy received from author in exchange for an honest review**

Cam Foster had been mistreated by the man she thought loved her for years. When she finally has enough and leaves him, the only person she can turn to is her best friend Shelby. Shelby is there for Cam and helps her pick up the pieces the best she can. Cam is determined never to be in the position that her ex put her in again.

Ledger is the sexy bartender that works at Shelby's favorite bar. When Shelby finally gets Cam to have a night out, Cam finds there is just something about Ledger that she wants to get to know. Ledger sees how lost Cam is. All he wants is to help free her. Can Cam let him help her?

This was a sweet, sexy and dramatic read with just the right amount of angst. I could not put the book down after the half way point. Great job, Kemmie Michaels, you've just made a new fan.

HASH(0x93bc1c54) out of 5 stars Awesome!!! 28 July 2014

So I started reading Ledger yesterday( I fell asleep while doing so), and was hooked from page one! This not your cookie cutter alpha/helpless girl story. Although Ledger is defiantly an alpha and Cam needs to be helped. He doesn't tell her what she needs as so much to tell her she has to find herself. He helps her to empower herself while standing by her side. Kemmie Michaels is one of my new favorite authors! Beautifully written with awesome characters!
HASH(0x93bc1e04) out of 5 stars Too Good To Be True! 28 Mar. 2015

Well there's nothing like a sexy bartender to take your mind of the troubles in your life for at least one night. That's exactly what Kemmie Michaels gives us with Ledger. Although it's more than one night for Cam. Way more.

Ledger is a bartender at Second Chances. His job is to read people and keep the conversations going to keep the drinks flowing. He's a simple man, living and loving life in the now. Over a troubled past, Ledger is proud of who he's become all on his own accord and free to live his life in any matter he finds fit.

The same cannot be said for Cam. She left her older, wealthy, controlling boyfriend of two years and is ready to start over. She thinks she is anyway. Cam suffered a lot of emotional abuse in her relationship, so every step she takes and word she says is calculated and measured out of habit. Not wanting to live under the thumb of her past any longer, Cam heads out to Second Chances with her best girlfriend as a start to her new life.

Cue the relationship. Cam and Ledger get together pretty quickly and steam up just about every page from here until the end of the book. Ledger is doing his best at talking Cam out of robo-mode and into her own person. Making her choose where they go and what they do instead of just following along.

"There's nothing but me. I'll give you what you need...but you have to forget everything else." ~Ledger

He wants her, she isn't sure about him, plus her past has surfaced to torture her a bit more. Cam doesn't know which way is up anymore and if she can even have a normal relationship with Ledger, but she sure wants to try.

"Find yourself first, then if you still want me, I'll take everything you offer. Until then, I'm going to enjoy helping you find all the pieces."~Ledger

This man is too good to be true. However, Ledger has a secret of his own, one that only his friend and employee, Mason, know about. He keeps it to himself so people like him for who he is, Cam included.

Ledger is a good story that didn't truly grab me until Cam has to start dealing with her past again. Before that it was lots and lots of sex, which don't get me wrong, I love in a book, however this was every other page. I actually skimmed a few of the sex scenes to keep the story moving. Kemmie Michaels did a good job at adding the suspense and I liked how at one point the book changed to Ledger's POV to finish things off.
