For anyone wanting to know about the LDS church and its sacred texts then this is a first class book to get. I never cease to be amazed by the word of God when I read these amazing books. Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God, there is no way he could have made up these books on his own, he had only had four years of formal education when he translated them and at that time he understood only the basics of literacy. (He didn't write them himself, he translated them from ancient texts by the power of God, and the translations have been verified.) There is just so much in the books that have been proven to be true. Don't believe the anti-mormon diatribes, read the books and find out for your self. Thirteen million people already have and their lives have been changed forever by these books.

I have already reviewed Joseph Smith's most popular fiction, the Book of Mormon, so in this review I will only discuss the other two books authored by Smith, "Doctrine and Covenants" and "Pearl of Great Price".

Doctrine and Covenants is a collection of Smith's alleged revelations received from "God" (presumably Elohim, a spacegod who was once a man who progressed to godhood, and now resides near a star called Kolob with his many nameless wives, busy having neverending sex in order to procreate spirit children).
As one would expect, D&C contains a number of embarrassing false prophecies. For example:
In D&C 84:114, Smith predicted that New York, Albany and Boston would be destroyed if they rejected his "gospel", and that the hour of their judgement was near. Smith went to New York, Albany and Boston to preach and these cities rejected his "gospel", yet they have not been destroyed.
According to D&C 114, Apostle Patten was to go on mission in Spring 1839, but he was shot in October of 1838. Apparently the Mormon "god" did not know that Patten was going to die before the next spring.
The highlight of the book is certainly section 132, which discusses polygamy, one of the cornerstones of the Mormon faith, a "holy practice" and "everlasting covenant". This section is also noteworthy because it contains yet another false prophecy. In order to persuade his wife Emma to accept his additional wives, Smith had "god" saying: "if she shall not abide this commandment {plural marriage}she shall be destroyed" (verse 54).

5.0 out of 5 stars LDS Scriptures 30 Oct. 2015

This eBook contains the three scriptures unique to Mormonism: The Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. Though I am not a Mormon, I wanted to read these just out of curiosity and to learn a little about Mormonism. This eBook version works well enough with tables of contents for each book subdivided into individual books and chapters.

In conclusion, this is a good way to have the LDS scriptures.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great product at a great price 19 Sept. 2012

While not myself a Mormon, I was interested in reading the Book of Mormon and considered many different versions before settling on the LDS Triple. The value for money here is terrific. You get the Book of Mormon plus the other major Mormon scriptures (not counting the Bible itself) -- the revelations known as the Doctrine and Covenants, and the collection of other writings by Joseph Smith known as the Pearl of Great Price. The nested tables of contents are easy to navigate; the design is pleasing; the "official" summaries at the start of each book and each chapter are included, aiding comprehension.

As for the content of the Book of Mormon, I'm glad I read it but probably won't read it again. Parts of it were very slow going, especially the Book of Alma. In fact, I think it would benefit hugely from a "Reader's Digest" condensed treatment, to be aimed at non-Mormons like me. If I were preparing such an edition, I'd include 1, 2, and 3 Nephi, and Mormon, Ether, and Moroni. Those are the best parts, in my opinion, and are more than enough to give the non-Mormon reader a good idea of what the whole Book of Mormon is like.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pay the $1 its worth it. 17 Feb. 2012

Okay, first I'll admit that I'm not a mormon but I'm curious to read their scriptures. I started out with the free edition of the book of mormon but the formatting was bad and it didn't have the chapter headings. For someone coming from a non mormon background the book of mormon is pretty confusing, but reading this one with the headings and a far superior line spacing is less torturous. I'd fully recommend paying the $1 for this over getting the free edition, I just wish I did it before I read to the book of Mosiah.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Book for these latter days 3 Feb. 2014

This book answered many of the questions I had not received an answer to and gave me a greater understanding of the Bible with all the references. I learned so much about Jesus Christ and His love for all of us here on earth and how we must love everybody and learn to forgive as God forgives us. .

I had heard so many negative things about this book that I wanted to see for myself if it was true. I am most fortunate to have bought and read it because now I know that it reveals the true gospel and how we can achieve salvation and return to our Heavenly Father.

I like when you find something and try to download it and just before it's done you get a message that there has been an error and you can 't finish the download. Well I thought this was going to do the same thing but I was so wrong and now I can look up a scripture really fast and I can cross reference as well. I'm glad i got this
