I’m not new to the fictional world of rich business men and strong girls who keep them on their toes, but there was something about ‘Layers’ that made this book seem so much more real to me than some of the others like it in this genre. ‘Layers’ was a really well crafted story that brought into play a number of real-life issues that made the storyline seem more realistic and relatable to the reader.

Starting with the main characters, I clicked with them straight away, which really highlights Sigal Ehrlich’s talent as an author, for she was able to have the main characters do things that we may not agree with, but still sympathise with them afterwards. We are first introduced to Hayley when she leaves a club with her planned one-night stand, and although I felt saddened that Hayley was acting in such a way, knowing already that she deserved better, I really felt her pain when her senses returned to her and the obvious emotional scarring from her past left her unable to follow through with going home with the man. I empathised with her immediately, and liked how we saw her emotional issues fight against her mind, causing her to retreat home on her own, fearful of continuing on the path she’d set out on. Natasha was a great best friend who gave some of the more emotional parts of the novel become slightly more light-hearted, bringing reprieve to the reader and to Hayley, which I absolutely adored. The author has exceptional talent in creating a perfect balance of raw emotion and heart-warming humour.

And now I come to Mr. Stark. Oh, well what can I say about our lovely Daniel. At first he started off as the egotistical company owner which I hoped I would grow to like, but I had no idea how much I would connect to him as a character.

Really? The only thing I did like that occasionally the two lead characters had good chemistry/ banter between them! Apart from that its a pointless read, probably because its not written really well, it's all over the place! You find yourself lost & ask wait? What's happening? On several occasions, partly because its boring also! No emotional connection with the characters whatsoever! Wouldn't of even bothered writing a review either, but I felt I had to as so many are misleading! Don't read it

I brought this book based on the 5 star reviews.. how wrong was I.. Should have listened to the 1 star reviews! I have had to give up reading it at 63% as it is just so boring. Theres no story to it - just girl meets boy, boy turns out to mega rich blah blah blah, with absolutely no gripping storyline to keep your interest and really weak characters that don't draw you to them. I am shocked that this book has been compared to the 'This Man' series! Are people reading a different book to me? Awful, just awful.

I'm not one for writing reviews but if I do, it's because the book deserves my opinion and this love story is certainly one worth mentioning! Randomly looking for a good read, I found this book by chance and bought it! It is without a doubt, one of the best books of its genre this year! If you want erotica, you'll have to use your imagination as the love scenes are sublime.

Haley is cajoled into taking a drinking bet with her best friend, Tasha, and loses! The price for losing is to be present in an orientation day in one of the best high-tech companies for an intern-ship. She has no interest in the company but goes along with her friend for the fun of it and when she ends up diverting from the group, lo and behold, she meets an interesting person in the CEO'S personal kitchen. A few days later her CV is accepted, an interview scheduled, and that's when fate begins to play a huge part in this story. These two people that seem so alike, so diverse, and so quirky, start a low-key relationship that pulls them both into a whirlwind romance with all its ups and downs. Daniel Stark, the CEO, is charming, arrogant and that touch of irony sums up his personality to perfection. Haley's character is on par with his, but she's more inquisitive and tolerant. Obviously this cocktail seems to work until a misunderstanding wrenches them apart.

The writer's ability to describe their persona is incredible! The verbal interaction between the characters is solid, comical and at times, dam right emotional. I felt that I was having that one grande, double shot, extra hot, not too much foam cappuccino with them in Starbucks! The writer conveys all aspects of their attire down to a tee and certainly makes one want to go out and buy a pair of red sneakers!

Hayley's friends are incredible.

Very badly written. Seemed as though the author had just read a thesaurus and felt the need to use every word making sentences ridiculous and hard to follow. Won't be finishing the book and definitely won't be buying the next one.

I really loved this book, i share the name of the lead character so how could i not love the smart mouthed Hayley? She was a refreshing change in a world of pure virgins i have been reading about recently! Daniel is the hot billionaire and i really love the way the author built up their relationship. Slowly but solidly. There was no rushing, it felt like i was discovering something new as the characters were discovering each other. Can't wait to read book two. Excellent!
