I did not enjoy the very beginning of the book and felt it was a bit over the top in regards to the acting profession . I enjoyed it more as it went on; it was a good read.
It's quite conversational at times, almost like a diary. I liked how she really let the reader into her life with Bogart, and especially her life with her children. Some other autobiographers mention theirs very little, and surely they make up a large part of their lives (in most cases anyway).
This would surely be a good read for anyone wanting to enter the acting profession. Her determination and spirit - almost cheek - in approaching people & getting known are part of what you need & of course not taking rejection to heart and picking yourself up.
What really shines is the affection and love with which she talks about her dear friends and family. She was clearly a busy and driven woman but she had a lot of love for them. She worked hard and her family did miss out as a result, but this is not a rare theme in the lives of many an entertainer and she is very matter of fact about how things were. It comes across as an honest account.
