I stumbled upon this magazine in quite a serendipitous way, not being much of an e-reader, but I'm very glad I did. As someone who grew up reading short stories it always surprises me that the format isn't more popular in this age of short attention spans. Therefore its good to find that someone is still promoting the art form. Another nice thing about this particular publication is the mix of genres. Personally I would probably never choose to read a crime novel but having now been exposed to some shorter versions I might well think differently in future. However at the end of the day what's really important is the quality of the writing, and there's a lot to like about the stories in Kzine. Some are slower burners but others grip the reader right from the first paragraph. Two in particular stood out - The Scramble by Damien Krsteski (it's surely only a matter of time before this idea is turned into a movie) and On Conti Street... by Katharine Coldiron which has some great hard boiled one liners. I'm now reading Issue 10 and so far that one is as good, if not better.
