"KYLIE" was originally released in July 1988 and went a record-breaking six times platinum in the UK - then the biggest-selling debut album ever. Produced by the legendary Stock Aitken Waterman team, the album features the classic hits "I Should Be So Lucky" (#1), "Got To Be Certain" (#2), "The Loco-Motion" (#2, US #3) and "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi" (#2), plus the Japanese #1 "Turn It Into Love" and the US Top 40 hit "It's No Secret".

The DELUXE EDITION is comprehensively expanded on two CDs and DVD. A second CD of rare tracks and remixes, several previously unavailable on CD in the UK, is included alongside a DVD of all the classic promo videos, restored and remastered for the very first time. The Deluxe Edition is presented in a special clamshell box, with discs housed in individual deluxe card sleeves together with a 32-page booklet containing classic images, full lyrics and new sleeve notes.

key tracks..
i should be so lucky
turn it into love
look my way
je ne sais pas pourquoi

this is where the kylie minogue phenomena began. fresh from neighbours, and scoring the biggest selling single of the 1980's in australia with 'locomotion' kylie ventured to england to work with the biggest pop producers of the time stock/aitken/waterman. her first release 'i should be so lucky' topped the uk charts for 5weeks (12 weeks in japan)and a further 5 hit singles were released in different countries. (at one point kylie had 3 of the top 5 singles in japan in the same week)

the singles were all smash hits, but the best track here is 'turn it into love'a perfect disco love-song (japan only single - 10 weeks at number 1 which should have had a uk release but was given to s/a/w stablemate hazel dean to release. 'je ne sais pas pourquoi' has a more mature sound, while 'look my way' has a chunky 80's beat and is another stand out track. this was a great way to kick off kylie's illustrious career, was a solid debut and well worth another listen for those of us who have followed her from the start..reminds me of a time when life was much simpler

Would be 5 stars but 3 of the tracks on the DVD have the music track slightly out of sync, I Should Be So Lucky, The Locomotion and Made in Heaven (not as bad). Has anyone else found this? It is a shame as the videos are one of reasons for purchasing.

Kylie's debut is one of the few studio albums that I have (and have heard) that doesen't contain any fillers. If you like her singels from that period you, like me, will love this album. The songs roughly can be put in 2 categories. Fun & simple like "I should be so lucky" and bit more sophisticated like "Je ne sais pas pourquoi" and "Turn it into love". Conclusion, well worth its money and fun to listen to, but also a bit cheesy, but hey I like that!

All men of a certain age, which includes me, wanted to plough her from the start of her career until now, and beyond, and I salute her for still having that 'jail bait' air about her, I really do. The boppy feel to this album may feel a bit dated, but it magically takes you back to those innocent days of flirting on top of the pops, so many years before the porn of today's music videos. Happy memories. Catchy tunes, too.

There are 4 double cd releases from australia released years ago which have all kylie's extended remixes from all 4 kylie's pwl releases album hits.
If u don't have those releases then this is a must have cd especially if u don't have any kylie's cd singles.
If u have kylie's extended australia cd releases then don't throw your money ......

Kylie’s self titled debut the one that started it all, with 10 fantastic and catchy tracks, 6 of which were released as singles in various parts of the world and with 2.1 million sales in the UK and 8 million worldwide, making her an instant icon.

01. I Should Be So Lucky 10/10
The track that really started it all, a simple yet effective and catchy number that made me fall in love with her to begin with, everyone should know this by now, topping the UK charts for a massive 5 weeks and topped the charts in Australia, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland, its pure cheesy pop at its finest.

02. The Loco-Motion 10/10
A fun cover that was originally by Little Eva and yet Kylie made this her own, another fun upbeat track that will get you up on your feet and dance, maybe a bit dated now but that still doesn’t stop this song from being great. Released as her debut single in Australia hitting #1 over there and her third hit over here reaching #2 in the UK charts, as well as being a massive hit in the US charts peaking at #3 over there, making this yet another memorable track for the princess of pop.

03. Je Ne Sais Pas Pourqoui 10/10
The first ballad on the album, slowing down the pace which only makes this track beautiful with lyrics about her singing her love for a man, and quite inventive with the French title and becoming another instant hit for her reaching #2 in the UK charts, originally meant to released as a double a-side with “Made In Heaven”, but as it turned didn’t need the backing as this track well and truly overshadowed the latter and quite right as well.
