It may took her long, but her first fully-fledged seasonal album is here, 15 years since her Kylie-cious cover of "Santa baby" in 2000, a seasonal favourite since. Considering that most of her '80s peers have already presented at least one Christmas record, and the fact that she has been having at least one release of new, old, or tour material as often as every 2 years, it is rather surpring that Ms Minogue did not release a festive record sooner. "Never too late", though. "Kylie Christmas" arrives 28 years into her recording career, and is as joyful and fun as anyone would expect from pop's eternal - and most beloved - princess (nevermind she's 47). As someone who never feels like struggling to impose her character in the music world, this has been working in her favour all these years, and even more so on this particular album, which she insited on making it her way (she had to fight for the cover art her label favoured - photo #2).

So, here it is. A pretty great mix of classics and newly-penned festive songs, with Kylie doing on here what she has been doing all along, sticking to her fun and frothy formula. Those sweet vocals we first came to enjoy on her "Abbey Road sessions" album, are on this set, too; Kylie's mellow delivery on more subtle numbers is most splendid. Standouts include her take on The Pretenders' "2,000 Miles", the jazzy "Oh Santa", the Iggy Pop-assisted "Christmas wrapping", disco duet with sister, Dannii, "100 Degrees", and the Chris Martin-penned "Every day's like Christmas".

Received this on the 14th November and haven't stopped playing it since. It's Christmassy, it's feel good and if White December doesn't become the new 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' it will be an outrage!! There is not a dud track on this album, the only small complaint I have is that the talking about skiing with Iggy Pop on Christmas Wrapping makes me cringe every time! All of the original songs are fantastic and could/should become Christmas classics. Kylie's covers of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' & '2000 Miles' are absolutely beautiful. I bought the deluxe edition and although I haven't watched the dvd yet it's well worth it for the extra tracks alone. In fact, Cried Out Christmas is one of my favourites. The duets with Dannii, James Cordon and Frank Sinatra are all brilliant as is the song written with Chris Martin. The production is brilliant, especially on 'It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year' which is a fantastic start to the album. Not sure what the reviews saying it is terrible are talking about, this deserves to be up there with Bublé's Christmas album as one of the best that is played every year. It won't be off my CD player until January - move over Michael! Well done Kylie and make sure you get White December released as a single!

The album opens with a rousing orchestra and choir and I was magically transported into Christmas. It's the middle of November, the rain is hammering down on my windows but the CD is on full volume and within seconds, my bad mood has vanished. I have that warm nostalgic feeling inside me instantly. Kylie bursts into song, taking on the classic 'the most wonderful time the year' Probably one of the best Christmas feel good songs ever written. A great choice song to open this album with. Lovely harmonies and backing vocals. Kylie's version is just perfect. I have to resist my temptation to did out the Christmas decorations. I am filled with the kind of excitement you felt as kid in the build up to Christmas. Happy days.
Track 2 see's Kylie team up on a posthumous duet with Frank Sinatra on the track 'Santa Claus is coming to town'. only adds to that warm nostalgic feeling. Big bands, Frank and Christmas go hand in hand perfectly. Add in Kylie having fun and it's all smiles.
Kylie goes all Jazz on 'Winter Wonderland' Thankfully we only have to endure under two minutes of this track which adds nothing to the album,
HEY! this is more like it! Track 4 and we're treated to another classic; a cover of 'Christmas Wrapping' which also features Iggy Pop on vocals. The last person I would associate with a pop song, let alone at Christmas! But it works fantastic and hearing Iggy sing 'HO HO HO' brought the biggest smile to my face. Love this song anyway. The song has always had one of the best introductions of any song and for the first time, I can now understand the words as Kylie delivers them clearly over this thumping bass line and it's a really good song with a feel good story.

i have to be honest, i wasn't exactly excited about a kylie christmas album. on paper it sounded a bit too tacky and cheesy but then again i suppose thats what christmas is about. anyway i gave it a go, as when things don't sound like they are going to work in kylie world (duet with nick cave anyone?) they usually turn out to be the best decisions she makes. and i have to to say this album is quite the christmas cracker

ok i know the world doesn't need anymore versions of winter wonderland and most wonderful time of the year, but here they are really well produced and kylie sounds great on them. then there is have yourself a merry little christmas which kylie sings absolutely beautifully. this girl really can sing.. the aching beauty which comes across on the james cordon duet only you, and the breathtaking 2000 miles is just stunning. it has to be said though that the best tracks here come in the form of the original tracks.

the chris martin penned 'everydays like christmas' is a great little song and should have been released to radio to promote the album. white december and christmas isn't christmas 'till you get here both sound like christmas classics - infact all the new songs would slot nicely into any 'now christmas' compilation and nobody would think them anything other than classics. the danniii duet 100 degrees is a disco stomper, reminding us that while we are freezing our baubles off, our cousins in australia are tucking into a BBQ for xmas dinner. and closing track cried out christmas is a great bluesy closer, for this brilliant seasonal record.

if you are looking to buy this, as your record of choice to get you through the festive season, i wouldnt hesitate.. but i would opt for the deluxe version, as some of the best songs dont feature on the standard version of the album. awesome
