M5-450 Kuru Toga Mechanical Pencil - Revolutionary! The Kuru Toga lead rotates to keep the tip sharp. The gears of the "Kuru Toga Engine" revolve as the lead is pressed down and lifted off the paper. Each time you write, the lead rotates fractionally to maintain an even, cone-shaped tip that is resistant to breaking.
The Kuru Toga also contains new uni Nano Dia leads. Each pencil lead contains 400 million nano diamonds, giving a super tough lead with a smooth, crisp finish. The lubricating effect of the Nano Diamonds gives strength with a smooth feel, reducing kinetic friction between the paper and the lead allows vivid, clear lines.

Otherwise, its one of the best writing instruments i have ever owned. Thoroughly recommended.
However, the pocket clip broke after a few months so I was no longer able to keep it in my jacket pocket, the metal point holding the lead is sharp so I would not want it loose in my pocket so it is confined to my desk.
I have since bought another one with a pale blue barrel and a 0.3 mm lead.
It's a neat and ingenious idea to have the lead rotating, which works well. But on examination and use, it's obvious where all the money goes - straight into the Kuro Toga "engine". The rest of the pencil feels very cheap, and the grip really is nothing special.
Put this mechanism into a better quality body and Uni would be onto a winner. Adding a 'shaker' lead advance system to that would make it perfect.
But until then, the offerings from Pilot, Rotring and Ohto are much nicer to use for the same money. For me personally a few days of using this pencil have been interesting but sadly for most of my note-taking I'm going back to my much loved Pilot 'shaker' pencils, where a quick flick of the wrist advances the lead.
