Kung Fu - The Way of Heaven & Earth is a first hand account of a complete and comprehensive system of Taoist Arts which has taken over 33 years to develop. Devotees of any Martial Art will find this book interesting as it also covers the history of Chinese Kung Fu as well as the history of Wudang (the traditional seat of Taoism) with copious references and dates. From basic stances to blocks, punches and kicks, everything is clearly illustrated and a few traditional secrets revealed. For the first time health and safety in warm-up exercises and why you should avoid certain methods is also explained, so making this book useful for all who train in any exercise form. Many things are explained in this book that have never been made public before because of the Chinese people's love of secrecy, and, as one reviewer notes, it is all explained in plain English. This is the birth of a long term best seller in the Martial Arts world!

This book offers a great chance for an insight into an interesting style of kung fu, that is clearly rooted in traditional Chinese arts. The text is clearly written and laid out in a straightforward way. It gives you a lot of background knowledge on the origins of kung fu, Chinese arts, Taoism, the authors background and how this style developed. It also covers the first few basic grades and all the blocks, punches, footwork and forms that are part of them. The author has clearly studied this subject for a long time, and this book maybe of interest on a variety of levels as a reference point to practitioners of this or any other martial arts styles.

I have been a martial arts practitioner for over 30 years and it is easy for me to see that the author has a vast knowledge of kungfu. This in depth but uncomplicated book dispells all the myths that surround kungfu. Anyone who is interested in the history, philosophy and technique of the Art then I would thoroughly recommend this book.
