We're a family of four and use it on a daily basis. We've had two of these, the 1st in 2011 and the 2nd in 2014. They do work well as burr grinders but, as other reviewers mention, the button has failed within 1 year on both. We were still able to press 'a button behind the button' using a woodenspoon (!). Unfortunately after doing this for two years the electronics have gone on the second one today - I've gone for the De'Longhi KG79 Professional Burr Grinder this time...

Bought this 17 months ago and now the on off button has broken I've just read many other reviews and there is clearly a problem with this button failing as there are countless people complaining about the same failure. Last time I buy anything from Krupp they obviously seem quite happy to continue to sell a product that has an obvious problem but I won't be buying anything from them going forward

Initially very happy with this product. But it cuts out after one use, and you need to turn it upside down and shake it to free up the switch mechanism. Eventually failed altogether. Looked at reviews and it seems a frequently reported issue that coffee grinds get into the switch mechanism. Talked to Krups support who are helpful and returned for a repair, which has for now fixed the issue. However, the repair note indicates clearly the fault which is as above.
Pointed out to Krups that there is a design fault, or manufacturing fault, and with so many comments about this issue they should acknowledge it. And I’d like a replacement that isn’t going to fail again.
However, Krups say that I need to go to the retailer. Amazon..... impossible to find out how to return the goods, so I give up.
Simple advice. Don’t buy this product, because per all the other similar reviews it will fail and you won’t be able to return it.
Subsequent note. It’s failed again after the repair. And it’s now in the bin.

Brilliant bit of kit - I read some reviews about coffee grinders to get an idea of what to go for, and saw them range from hundreds of pounds to £20. I picked the Krups because it has some good variable settings, and fitted my needs perfectly. There were other brands with similar features, but this stood out to me, and so I bought it. I have to say I am sure I made the right choice, it is well made and works perfectly for my use, and didn't cost a fortune, so I am now one happy convert to coffee beans and one happy Krups Burr owner.

This is my second Krupps GVX231. The first one lasted for many years and when it eventually gave in, after daily use, I immediately ordered the exact same again. It does a great job at an amazing price. There are many far more expensive burr grinders out there, they may look fancier but I honestly don't think they will grind your coffee any better. Have tried it on many settings and it really does go from very fine to a coarse grind. Find the one you like and it will give consistent results everytime.

This is a very good Grinder. I have found that it is very easy for me to change the grind settings. There are around 17 different settings but in reality you will only ever use a few. I found that if you are using a manual pump espresso machine then you will be able to fairly quickly find what grind you like in order to be able to pull a good shot. You are also able to grind coffee up to the amount of 12 cups at a time which is good. I do think that there is not a very large amount of coffee beans that can be stored in the grinder at a time which is the only thing that really annoys me when using the machine. I think that the grinder is easily worth the money. I am very happy with this grinder and I am sure that I will be continually happy using it.

Great grinder, except for very coarse grinds

This is a great grinder for fine and medium grind coffee. If you need a very coarse grind, for example for a Cona, then it may not be quite coarse enough at its maximum setting. As a burr grinder, it gives an even, dust-free grind which is highly consistent. It's relatively quick in operation, and doesn't shake around too much. which was a problem with our previous burr grinder.

The controls are really easy. Within two minutes of getting it out of the box we had ground our first coffee. Grind is on the side, number of cups is on the front, you press the button and off it goes, provided that you have the top on. For safety reasons, if the top isn't properly on, it does nothing.

We're really pleased with this.

I'm writing this review to help people like myself, people who have espresso machines that also make Barista drinks. If you like a decent strength Cappuccino or a strong Latte you need a very fine grind on your choice of beans, this grinder does it well. DO NOT BUY the Delonghi KG one at similar price as it does not get close to the fine grind this machine does, trust me when I say this as I currently have BOTH grinders sat in my kitchen after making the mistake of buying the DeLonghi one first (It's getting put back in its box and in the cupboard shortly). Espresso Machine, buy this one. Simple and easy to use and at sub £40 untouchable by others.
