The controls are really easy. Within two minutes of getting it out of the box we had ground our first coffee. Grind is on the side, number of cups is on the front, you press the button and off it goes, provided that you have the top on. For safety reasons, if the top isn't properly on, it does nothing.
We're really pleased with this.
I agree with a previous reviewer that the machine is quite messy. It is still faster by far than using my manual grinder though, even factoring in clean up. The likely point of future failure is quite likely to be the power button on the front - it literally feels like a bendy piece of metal.
Overall it's very easy to use and grinds the coffee quickly.
