The well written, well explained and well pictured first 43 pages explain almost all you need to know about how to use metallic thread.
The book contains designs both simple and complicated from a elegant but unassuming framed dragonfly to the Angelic Messenger, the chart for which was my reason for buying the book.
The use of metallic thread is not limited to cross stitch and crewel embroidery. There are examples of the use of couching to add on the surface sparkle to your handicrafts of all sorts.
Another project which caught my eye was the Regency Stocking made of white material edged with gold and its cuff made of mono de luxe canvas, embroidered red with couched gold and two resplendent red tassels. A beautiful gift for someone to hang up at Christmas even if they did not have a mantelpiece.
There is a full colour Kreinik metallic thread colour chart spread over 2 pages. A reference chart telling the reader which colours are available in their different ranges and a guide informing which of their products to use with 7 count, 10 count and 14 count plastic canvas.
Also a list of worldwide suppliers of various handicraft and embroider items.
This book also contains an Index. A lot of handicraft books don't bother giving the reader the opportunity of almost instant retrieval of what they want to know - when they want to find it.
After studying this book I am very pleased that I own it. I could not give it away - if I did I would have to buy another copy.
