1.0 out of 5 stars Deceptive... 8 Feb. 2012
By Michael - Published on Amazon.com

The product appeared to work properly but can't seem to pass any sort of memory test. I installed the memory and the computer started up fine, but then within minutes video drivers started to fail as well as the wifi driver. I then attempted to run the standard windows 7 memory test, of which it crashed immediately, and then proceeded to run other memory tests of which it failed as well. Should have realized this company was bunk as soon as I saw the GIF logo.

I wonder how many others have been fooled. Have you tested your memory?

1.0 out of 5 stars Check the memory with a tool such as CPUID CPU-Z 4 April 2012
By morpheus - Published on Amazon.com
The memory is listed on the Amazon web page as having 9-9-9-25 timings (3/30/2012) . The Komputerbay label on the memory also says 9-9-9-25. Using CPU-Z (a free utility, google for it), the memory tested as having 11-11-11-28 timings. I don't have another memory-test tool to verify the CPU-Z findings.

At the time I purchased the memory via Amazon (3/30/2012), getting two 2x8GB kits (total of 32GB) was cheaper than getting a single 4x8GB kit, so I got two of the 2x8GB kits for my Dell M6600. Besides the timings possibly not being as advertized for the modules I received, two of the modules may have been defective--the computer wouldn't boot with them installed (I initially installed all four modules and the computer wouldn't boot, but on my first test with just two modules it booted, and with the other two by themselves it wouldn't boot--one or both may have been bad). I did no further tests.

The heat-spreaders can be removed to reveal a thermo-coupling material, attached to the memory modules, which couples a memory module to its heat-spreader. However, removing that material to see what the module reveals about itself probably would displease Komputerbay because the modules are being returned, so I didn't remove the material for a look-see.

4.0 out of 5 stars works on Apple MBP 20 Mar. 2012
By William Linn - Published on Amazon.com

A lot of peeps have said that from the late 2011 Macbook Pro's, they will not accept 16GB of RAM. Apple states up-to 8GB possible, but its one of those 'unwritten facts'. I was hesitant also b/c the speed of this RAM is faster than what Apple has listed as replacement RAM. A little bit of googling and I found out that with the new i7 Core processor, it is in fact possible. I can confirm that this RAM does work for me and the bus speed, though I did not test it professionally, does register and I would be surprised if it were not running at 1600 MHz.

Overall, this is a great deal on RAM and has really sped up my ability to multi-task. Also it cuts video rendering time down considerably. The computer does heat up and the fans go crazy when you have a RAM-intensive task(s) going on, so it's a good idea to keep an eye on Activity monitor or use a dashboard widget to monitor things. I've not experienced anything unusual other than that. Quitting idle programs or processes (within Activity Monitor) will always free up your RAM btw.

I've never used RAM by this vendor, but I would definitely recommend it as it has been stable for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Two pairs failed Apple hardware test 7 Mar. 2012
By Ron - Published on Amazon.com

After first pair of Komputerbay modules failed Apple hardware test (on Apple diagnostics disc) I exchanged for a second set and those failed as well. Concerned that there may be a problem with my Early 2010 15" MBP I tested original 4GB with no problem. Purchased and tested Kingston HyperX 1600MHz 8GB kit with good results. Using the Kingston kit: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y4XAAK/ until a 1600MHz, 16GB kit is available from a name brand manufacturer at a decent price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Failed RAM Test 3 Mar. 2012
By Dusty Wilson - Published on Amazon.com

This RAM failed testing. I'm not sure I've ever seen RAM that is of such poor quality. Unfortunately I ignored the other guy's 1-star review and ordered anyway. Before the RAM testing suite gave up, it had hit more than 100,000 detected errors... and that was only in the first two minutes of testing. Both sticks were bad, not just one of them. Very, very bad.

On a side note: A few days ago we ordered a different set of RAM for a desktop computer from this same brand and those haven't gone through testing yet. I'm afraid to see the results. If those turn out to be bad too, I'll never buy this brand ever again. I they turn out okay, I'll come back to update my review.

EDIT: That second set of RAM I mentioned also failed the tests. I'll NEVER buy this brand ever again.
