The show is mainly a slice of life, comedy, silly romance type of thing and is a heavily character driven affair. All 5 main characters are loveable and easy to relate to. As that is the case it is very easy to just enjoy watching them be themselves. (even if they do happen to be in a different body at the time)
The show opens with the body swapping already underway and you actually get very little time to get to know the characters in their own bodies, which can make for some confusing early episodes (trying to match a name to a face when said face is constantly changing is... difficult) but after a while it all falls into place and you get to know each member of the group.
There is plenty of fun to be had with this show, as the characters swap bodies randomly they get themselves into all kinds of silly situations.
There is a tiny bit of seriousness here and there with a little love triangle forming and the actual "explanation" behind the body swapping. There are also some pretty serious topics talked about in the show as characters are forced to reveal some uncomfortable secrets. All in all though this is a pretty "feel good" show. The little romances are cute and the bonds between the characters that hold them together are genuinely lovely.
The show has a slightly less amusing second half with things changing up a bit from the whole body swapping formula (I don't want to spoil too much so I won't elaborate) they definitely could've handled certain aspects of this part of the show better though. Despite this the show pulls together nicely for its conclusion with things being shaken up again for the final few episodes.
The show has a sweet feel good ending and is left relatively open. So continuation is a possibility (I see there are some OVAs available to buy). Either way I would gladly welcome continuation.
I am going to give a 7 out of 10. The show lost marks for me firstly in the way it introduced its characters and secondly for its angsty argument filled middle section. But it has to be said I did enjoy Kokoro Connect even at it's worst so I can't complain too much there. I say give it a go! Thanks for reading!
