This is a new fully updated guide to traffic signs (last edition published 1995). This handy reference title illustrates and explains the vast majority of traffic signs that a road user is likely to encounter.A thorough knowledge of all traffic signs is essential for all road users, not just new drivers or riders, making this the ideal companion to ensure your knowledge is up-to-date. Although The Official Highway Code contains most of the commonly used road signs which are prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations, it does not give a comprehensive explanation of our signing system. This is therefore a perfect complimentary title to The Official Highway Code. The last edition was in published 1995. It is a handy reference guide. It illustrates and explains the vast majority of traffic signs. It is suitable for all road users not just learner/new riders and drivers, and supersedes ISBN 9780115516122.

Result? Passed first time. According to my daughter, she would not have done so without these books (and the app), so 5* rating it is.
Still, if you're learning to drive, and facing the appalling theory test, you've got to knuckle down and learn the wretched things. This book is usefully pocket-sized, clear in presentation, and every page is absolutely crammed with road signs -- an endless procession of them. There's just no end to them. Road sign after road sign, until the end of time.
I'm fortunate enough that I learned to drive when you passed if you managed to get back to the test centre without mowing down a bus queue. Today's young folks have a much harder time of it -- and a jolly good thing to. A spell in the Army wouldn't hurt them, either. Um... where was I? Oh, yes, road signs.
If you can read the whole thing without losing the will to live, you deserve a medal. It's an absolutely ghastly book, but I don't see how it can be improved, given the subject matter. It's decently priced, too, considering the quality of the printing.
