Out of all the singles I have bought by Radiohead this is the most impressive in terms of the single and b-sides. Cuttooth is a very great song, which was actually set for inclusion on recent album Amnesiac until for some reason the inferior guitar arsery of Hunting Bears replaced it. I would argue with anyone that this song would have made a great a-side in itself though ultimately and tragically the song has been relegated to b-side status.
The other b-side song of note out of the 4 tracks on offer is Fog once known as Alligators In New York's Sewers and it is great with a tambourine that sounds menacing. The single itself is of course the much-touted Smithesque song and has more guitars on it than any one song of theirs for the last 3 years. Worth investigation for certain.

This is the second single released following the release of Radiohead's latest album, Amnesiac. "Knives Out" was played rather heavily during the Radiohead concerts during the run-up to the release of Amnesiac, but what came out on the album was a soft, mellow and an absolutely great song - something the fans didn't expect. The other thing about Radiohead singles is, their magnificent B-Sides. This one is no exception, the songs "fog" (originally named "Alligators In The New York Sewers"), "Cuttooth", "Worrywort", and the extended version of "Life In A Glass House" (also on the album) live up to the reputation of those before them, drawing comparisons with their earlier great B-Sides like Polyethelene, Talk Show Host, and Bishops Robes. The song "cuttooth" from this single was supposed to be in the the album Amnesiac, but was replaced by "Hunting Bears" to keep the album's delicate balance. But none the less, another good B-Side joins the ranks of those before it (Great B- Sides which are arguably better than some songs in the album). Another great decision by Nigel Godrich. This single is a collector's item!!!

ALthough perhaps being the 'easiest' song on Amnesiac, to me Knives Out was a bit of a let down. It starts off as it means to continue and features little musical development, unlike the song it is compared with, the fantastic Paranoid Android. A shame because it has great lyrics. As for the B Sides the full length version of life in A Glasshouse is interesting, but not vital. Cuttooth, however, is fantastic. A really rocky number that sounds more like an OK Computer song or Killer Cars. In my opinion this could have been the A Side, and probably would have charted pretty highly. If people are looking for 'my like their old stuff,' (which I am not) this is what they've been after. As for the CD2 B sides, Worrywort and Fog, as you'd expect they're not as good as the CD1 B Sides but none the less interesting and are fairly 'normal.' Buy the CD1.
