Book Description

In this third edition, Knight's Forensic Pathology continues to be the definitive international postgraduate textbook for forensic pathologists, covering all aspects of the medico-legal autopsy, including the cause and time of death, interpretation of wounds and every other facet of the investigation of a fatality. The emphasis is on the practical application of knowledge and research findings, and the new edition continues the often praised traditions of clarity and succinct presentation.

This book will be an essential text for all pathologists in training, and remains a standard text to those in practice.

Review

...this is a valuable, well written and well illustrated text that deserves to grace the shelves of forensic pathologists, and which will not be out of place on the shelf of any pathologist engaged in autopsy practice.
ACP News

Waiting for the new edition of Forensic Pathology has been like waiting for the new instalment of Harry Pottter and it has certainly been worth the wait. This follow-up..has significantly improved on its predecessors and stands head and shoulders above its competitors... ....This is an excellent book useable by all hospital pathologists, forensic pathologists and professions allied to forensic science and it should be seen on the shelves of ecery forensic pathologist's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best 20 Feb. 2010
Format:Paperback
For anyone wanting to be a forensic pathologist (or fiction writers in the field) this is quite simply the very best textbook. The main author has more letters after his name than in it and is a former consultant to the Home Office.

In terms of what is in it:

34 chapters including the forensic autopsy, establishing identity and time of death, infanticide, child abuse, torture, deaths with a sexual component, and virtually every cause of death imaginable from electrocution, asphyxiation, poisoning and barotrauma to firearms, explosions and drowning.

What makes this better is the no-nonsense style. The authors tell it like it is - they are not afraid to contradict outdated ideas and add a wealth of personal cases to make things even more interesting. The language is simple enough that a lay-reader interested in the topic could get through it with no more than occasional recourse to a medical dictionary.

The final thing that makes this book so great are the pictures - each one chosen to illustrate a point perfectly from ligature marks to the types of burn caused by electricity. They might be a bit shocking to the lay reader but are perfectly in context.

If you buy one book on forensic pathology this should be it.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Depth 12 May 2004
Format:Paperback
This edition improves upon previous editions with many full colour photographs, and of course updated Pathological techniques. As a medical student with an interest in forensic pathology I find Knight shares his enourmous experience in a no-nonsense fashion, that makes the text both fascinating and easy to read. Every part of the autopsy is covered, as are all injury types and causes of death. The only thing that put's one off is the price tag, but it is no different than other high quality specialist texts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have! 12 July 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Being in the area and now attending Master Degree classes this is a must have. This is THE book to have if you have any interest in Pathology. It's VERY well written, VERY well ilustrated and have tons of references to go for.

Besides being a bit heavy, no other issues.
Great buy!
