About the Author

Michelle Miles grew up in North Central Texas in a rodeo town but was far more interested in nerdy things like Star Trek and Star Wars. She started writing fan fiction in high school. When being Indiana Jones or a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader didn't work out, she decided writing was her gig and has wanted to write her own stories ever since. Her love of romance started when she picked up Victoria Holt and Daphne du Maurier and was immediately smitten with the genre. But she also found another love in the fantasies of Patricia A. McKillip and Anne McCaffrey. Since she couldn’t decide which genre to pick—and because she’s a true Gemini—she decided it would be super fun to write contemporary and fantasy romance. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and has served on the board of several chapters as president and treasurer. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, reading and watching movies. A Native Texan, she loves castle, dragons, fairies and elves and is an avid Game of Thrones fan. She can be found online at Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Goodreads.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even if it leads to disaster, sometimes you have to follow your heart... 1 Nov. 2016

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for honest review.**

Sir Drake must watch as the object of his affection rides away, forbidden from any contact with him as she is an elven princess and him a lowly human knight. It matters not if she returns his sentiments as she will never be allowed to marry outside of her people so their love is doomed from the beginning.

Allanna would do anything to be with Drake. Even give up her immortality, leaving her home behind and essentially abandoning her royal duty to marry for the betterment of the kingdom. But just when it seems that things can't get worse, her father announces her betrothal. And it's to an elf that she could never trust or possibly love: Marath.

Newly turned to the dark side, Marath wants many things that he doesn't deserve: more magical power, his king's position, the eradication of the Fae, and the elusive Princess Allanna. With the assistance of previously enslaved creatures, Marath sets out to assassinate kings and princes and kidnap a princess. He is a very formidable villain.

Faced with the potentially permanent loss of his love, Sir Drake will do anything to save Allanna. And she is not nearly as much of a damsel in distress as Marath may have predicted. Magic, mayhem, mystery, and romance ensue, leading our couple all over the land as they battle to survive and thwart Marath's vile plans...

This book was very fast paced and the romance happened just as quickly. Though this can be read as a standalone, I think it would have been beneficial for me to have at least read the previous book so I could see the beginning of Drake and Allanna's relationship. They have already met and are parting ways at the beginning of this book so it was almost like being dropped into the middle of the story. However, after figuring out who everyone was and getting accustomed to the pacing, the story definitely heats up as it goes along.

There is even a second/parallel romance here, too. I won't say who it is because it's a nice surprise, but I did enjoy getting a little extra happy ending for another beloved character. I am already looking forward to the next book and going back to read the previous ones.

In closing...
Magic, royalty, villains, romance, and danger galore! Four suns!
4.0 out of 5 stars Elves, Fae, Knights & Dragons! What else do you need? 10 Oct. 2016

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book. I knew it was part of a stand-alone series. I usually try to read series in order, I'm a little book OCD. In terms of understanding the story and characters, I didn't have any issues. You could tell there were other books, of course, but I didn't find myself with gaping holes or unable to follow the story line. Quite the opposite, Michelle Miles did a great job of making the story independent. I want to go back now and read others in the series.

I will admit, I was a little worried at the start of the book it would be all sighs, fluttering eyelashes and knightly honor. Once Miles really got the story moving forward, the characters started to show their depth and complexity. We ended with something much spicier at the end, thank goodness! I also liked how the different characters changed and grew, or deteriorated, throughout the story. That natural progression of characters and story line isn't easy to do, but I feel Miles nailed it on this one. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
3.0 out of 5 stars Can forbidden love conquer dark magic? 27 Oct. 2016

Allanna is an Elven Princess who has fallen in love with Sir Drake. Her father, the King, has other plans for her though. She is heartbroken when they are forced apart and she is betrothed to Marath, an evil Elf, who has fooled the King.
Drake is an English Knight and jousting hero but is not considered good enough for Princess Allanna because he is only a human.
They come from two different worlds but their love is strong. Can they defeat dark magic and save the Woodlands? Will their forbidden love be accepted by the Elves? Can Drake protect Allanna?
This is the fourth book in the Realm of Honor series but the story stands on it's own. Michelle Miles writes a very descriptive story, pulling the reader into the worlds she has created.
