The Knight of Ambra is the first book in this series (Mercenaries of Fortune).
I loved the way Brant is a real person who makes mistakes even (or maybe especially) when he is trying so hard to make everything go right.
Poor Michaela getting caught up in Brant's work ... all she wanted to do was her job to try and earn enough money to live.

I like the fact that any sexy scenes are very much part of moving the story forward rather than just for the sake of it.

Looking forward to reading more books in this series

Michaela Alberto, courier extraordinaire, is up to her ears in debt. Whilst picking up at one of her stops she walks in on a gun toting mobster and her already crappy life has just tanked!!!

There is a man pointing a gun at Mr. Lugesti and he kills him right in front of her and then turns the gun on her…In bursts Brant Jacobs, mystery man and knight with a shiny gun. A member of the mysterious Order of Ambra (cross Jason Bourne and Indiana Jones and you come near how awesome Brant is!!), they acquire and protect antiquities. He is on his first solo mission, the training wheels are off and he is trying to reclaim the sword of Hannibal of Carthage.

However, there is a dead man on the floor and a terrified woman with a gun held to her head. He loses the sword but save the girl in their escape. He decides the only way she doesn't get herself dead is to take her with him, which is against soooo many rules his head hurts trying to think of them all.

What follows is an awesome adventure tale, with passionate moments and genuine laugh out loud moments. I loved Brant and he has a real sense of loyalty and responsibility towards Michaela, who is now trapped in his world. Their antics and madcap but they are ideal heroes. I got sucked into the story and can't wait for the next book. I usually read Lyn's sci-fi books but this lew me away and I need MORE!!!!!

Loved Lyn Brittan's romantic action adventure in the Knights of Ambra as the description were very real I could just picture the scenes that she described. The chemistry between Michaela and Brant is sizzling and was amused when he told her that he will first make love to her in a hotel in a bed with silk sheets and 5 star service, but he just satisfied in other ways while they were in the jungle. There some hilarious bits like when she told him to drop his pants and they pretended to be going at it so that the guards who were looking for them didn't even give them a second glance as it was the norm.
Looking forward to the other books in the series.
I received this book as an ARC for my honest review

review 3 stars

This is a new author for me I've never read Lyn Brittany before and I'm not sure whether I will again. Although I enjoyed the story a sexy geek turned spy who saves the unsuspecting delivery girl from the bad guys I did struggle in the first 3 chapters to read the story (for me a bad sign as normally if I've not managed to imagine I am the lead character by this point its done for me) but I persevered and eventually towards the end of the story I was there.

The story starts with our spy Brant on his first ever solo mission to recover the sword of Hannibal of Carthage and his meeting with our heroine a delivery girl Michaela - when she accidentally stumbles into the middle of the buying of the sword by some nefarious baddies. Unfortunately the baddies steal the sword before Brant can and he ends up dragging Michaela with him to retrieve it.

As I said at the start of the review I really struggled at first with this book however by the end I really enjoyed it and I am undecided as to whether to try the next one in the series and the next until I finish and read Dragons story maybe it was the characters seeming inexperience and all the mistakes that they make resulting in them retrieving the sword in south america and not the airport I just don't know I think I will have to read the next before deciding the Authors fate on my too be read pile.

HASH(0x908740e4) out of 5 stars Non-stop action, what a great series starter! 12 May 2015

Non-stop action, what a great series starter! I am so impressed by Lyn Brittan's ability to launch a new series, taking care of all the necessary introductions and scene setting without losing the momentum of the story. This action/suspense/romance is so very balanced and well crafted. Ms. Brittan writes with humor which I found delightful, and the dialogue is witty and first rate. The primary and secondary characters are equally as fully dimensional and interesting, which bodes well for future series entries. The passion factor is high, and the romantic elements quite satisfactory. I look forward to book two.

HASH(0x90874138) out of 5 stars I Loved It! 19 April 2015
By Sara A - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I received The Knight of Ambra as an ARC and I loved it!

Michaela Alberto is in so much debt trying to make it in the world and she is all alone. Working one of her many jobs she picks up dirty laundry and leaves the clean laundry with only bike to get her to where she needs to go. There was only one stop that she only ever picked up and never dropped off anything on one of her routine stops she goes into Mr. Lugesti’s restaurant to pick up the normal delivery only to find him red faced with his hands sticking out shaking. The man pointing a gun at Mr. Lugesti she dubs as Cigar Man ends up killing him right in front of her and then turns the gun on her…

Brant Jacobs duty of the Order of Ambra is to protect antiquities and the world’s priceless treasures at any cost. He is on his first solo mission as a Knight of Ambra all he has to do is go into the restaurant and buy or retrieve the sword of Ancient Rome’s greatest enemy, Hannibal of Carthage. However, when he walks in there is a dead man and a woman with a gun held to her head. He ends up getting her out of there but loses the sword in the process. He decides the best way to keep her safe from the MOB and the other players in the game is for her to stay with him, so he takes her with him to retrieve the sword but starts to fall for Michaela. Falling for her would only complicate his life’s work.

Will Brant be able to keep Michaela safe and retrieve the sword or will the sword be lost? Will he continue to fight his feelings for her or give into them?

HASH(0x90874a20) out of 5 stars Adventure, Danger and Romance...A Fantastic New Series! Woohoo, be still my heart! 16 April 2015
By Angiereadsalot - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Brant, a man on a mission, trying to prove himself as a Knight of Ambra. Michaela, a beautiful innocent, who works at a delivery service just to make ends almost meet. Both are alone but determined to survive.Their worlds collide when Michaela tries to pick up a delivery and ends up on the wrong side of the mob. Brant rolls in to retrieve Hannibal's Sword, a precious rare artifact the Knights of Ambra want to protect. Brant gets there just in time to save Michaela but not to acquire the sword.
The adventure begins as they travel cross country and all the way to the jungles of Honduras. Along the way learning to trust in someone other than themselves and deciding it is ok to love. I was given an ARC for my honest review which I have given. I thoroughly fell in love with the characters and this series and I am looking foward to Eric's story in "Sergeant of Ambra".
