Works amazingly on the majority of average, everyday kitchen knives bought from supermarkets . Sharpens them up so they are brilliantly useful within 4 or 5 pulls. Dont go back and forth tho, just keep parallel to counter and pull towards yourself.

If expensive knife, whether chinese, japanese or German, vg10, aus10, vgs or blue/white steel = Dont use!!!.?...it will likely scratch your lovely 67 layer/demascus steel (etc) profile with deep grooves.

Plus, anything harder than 56 maybe 58 hardness then definately send it away to a pro or use a wetstone as the steel id too hard for this little miracle device.

Any knife £100/$100 + DEFINITELY don't run your knife through it.

Also remember - ONLY USE on double bevel knives, not single bevel (ot that too many sushi chefs are going to be lookinh at this lol).

this is absolute garbagge. This knife sharpener instead lf making my knifes sharper it made them blunt. It also damaged 1 knife witch scratches all over the place. Suction is good for 2mins after that it is not holding at all. I had to buy another, more expensive knife sharpener to fix my knifes. I guess you get what you pay for. Avoid.

Basically this uses blades similar to an industrial cutting tool for lathe or Miller. It shaves metal off the blade but this leaves a horrible chipped rough edge and ruined my best knife. You need a grinding process for a blade edge, not a metal shaving process. It simply isn't a sharpener, it's a tool for removing metal to the point all damage is gone then you use a proper sharpener to finish it off. Don't buy this it's not a good idea.

While visiting with me elderly in laws, I became aware that all of their kitchen knives needed sharpening. My father-in-law had previously sharpened some of the larger ones on his shop electric grinder but the result was very uneven edges. I needed one that did the job but most importantly, that my mother-in-law could use with her arthritic hands.
After doing some online research on Amazon, I came across many positive reviews on this sharpner and decided to purchase it.
I liked this so much (I was the official tester) that one morning I took out all of their knives and sharpened all of them. Now, I can cut through potatoes and meats easily and the edges are sharpened evenly and I showed my mum how to use it...she was thrilled!

I got this as every kitchen knife I have has gone blunt,
Now these aren't great knives, no expensive brands so I wasn't expecting much but 3/4 strokes through this sharpener has made them all sharper than they were when new, Even the serrated bread knife.
At last I can actually slice cherry tomatoes into thin strips for salad instead of ending up with squashed chunks,
For the price even if it only lasts 2/3 sharpenings of every knife I have it would be a result and way cheaper than replacing them,

The suction pad on the base fixes it very solidly to the kitchen counter and makes it nice and easy to use,

It is that impressive and easy to use I ordered a 2nd to give to my mother as I know she has never sharpened a knife and would have trouble with a hand held one and never be able to use a stone but would be able to use this and be happy with the results which she is,

Would definitely recommend this sharpener for an easy to use fool proof way of bringing your knives back from the dead.

Don't let the price fool you, this little device performs much better than anything similar. It attaches firmly to any smooth surface, by virtue of the locking bar. Then simply draw your knife over it a few times, to renew the edge to your knife. Flip the bar up and return the sharpener to the drawer to store it for the next time. It worked with all my knives, including a serrated one, though that one required a little more care pulling it through the device.

Well you've heard the saying 'Small is beautiful' well this certainly is. Once the suction cup is engaged it stayed well and trully in place. I am working my way through ALL of our knives (as my dear mum used to say 'you can ride bare a#### from here to New York & back on these') well I don't think she can say that anymore. Overall a great little bit of kit.

No good for scissors

Bought this to sharpen my scissors as a few pairs were blunt. The reviews were all 5 star. Sharpened knives perfectly but completely useless for scissors. I got 2 friends to give it a go in case I was doing some wrong but they said the same. In fact I think it made my scissors worse. Shall keep it for knives. Completely disappointed.
