Format: Hardcover
This is not a cookbook nor a gardening handbook but sits deliciously between the two. As a gardener I found it an absorbing read with excellent growing tips from highly experienced kitchen gardeners (the methods that work for them), detailed focus on selected ingredients and mouth-watering recipes from top chefs. Admittedly not all the recipes appealed, some are more 'haute cuisine' than others (these are recipes from chefs in top restaurants after all), but there's still plenty to tempt with the joy being that these are ingredients that I can find in my garden: rose geranium panna cotta, pear with shortbread crumble or leeks vinaigrette, for example, although there's also simpler fare to be found in Rainbow Chard and Bean soup and Ratatouille, among others. Lovely glimpses into the workings of modern kitchen gardens and fascinating to read how the chefs and gardeners work together to create fantastic food. It's a substantial book (in quality rather than quantity) that can either be dipped into or used to pass a couple of hours on a chilly afternoon - with the bonus of wonderful photos and engaging text.

I absolutely love this book, the inputs from the chefs and gardeners really captivated me, it represents the hard work that is put in to make these fine dishes, written with great intelligence and understanding I felt as if I knew all the chefs and growers, and photographed so well it looks 3 dimensional, a un filtered pleasure to the eye. I would recommend this to any food lover or lover of growing food, Excellent!!!
