It took a while to figure out that to make it go up a peg you had to squeeze the bars together then lift it up, which could be fiddly and i imagine difficult for certain people, also, I'm constantly on edge it will snap, but the wire itself, not that great, it was nothing to do with my cakes as they got a nice, slow bake, and they were so light if i tried picking them up they'd fall apart, so i didn't have particularly hard cakes at all, but to get it through the outer layer of the cake i had to hold the cake down and use some force, but even then, as it was leaving the cake it took a decent sized chunk with it, and these were just Victoria Sponges!
Honestly, i think I'd much rather prefer to use a knife, as it may be uneven a bit but at least it can get through the cake, especially without destroying it, so a warning to anyone who wants to buy one of these, or at least what i am hoping is just this particular one, it can be fiddly to manoeuvre, and doesn't really cut the cake either!
Just be aware to take your time and be steady, and you'll be absolutely fine.

I bought this, expecting it to be excellent, but was somewhat disappointed. For nearly £5, this is not one of the cheaper cutters. Read morePublished 13 days ago by Emily Crutcher
