I wanted stainless steel with no coatings as I intend using this for "savoury" dishes which require long, slow and gentle cooking. I'm thinking potted beef and suchlike here. I already have a non-stick porringer which I use for my daily oat groats porridge (also from Amazon!) and I find if I use it for very long savoury cooking it does take on a wee bit of a "taint" until it has benn simmered out again a couple of times. Now I have my porridge pan *and* my potted heid pan and all is well in the world again.
Very happy with the purchase, strongly reccommend the porringer and the seller
Seems very good quality. The base pan is stainless but the top 'melter' is not stick, so I had to get a silicon whisk so I didn't scratch it! The product is fairly compact, so I have a nice small stainless steel lidded pan (the bottom pan) to add to my collection.
All in all, very pleased with it.
My one and only issue - though not a problem given the purpose of this pot - is that the base plate is very thin. I guess that makes sense if you are in the business of heating water but I do prefer a thicker base to pots as a general rule.
For myself I put in a cupful of milk, 200ml, and 4 dessert spoons of porridge oats and sugar to taste.
