I currently use the "legendary" Sony MDR XB700 as over ears. I use HiSound Woouduo2s as in ears. Both are treats for those of us that love sub-bass. Neither are punchy kick-bass specialists, I find punchy response breaks into the vocals if there's too much lift at 100-150Hz (warm, muddy). I absolutely love Chillstep which often contains programming down to 20Hz and sometimes even lower which needs serious lift to hear, and with the XBs, given enough drive, rumble the pads to give a visceral feeling to supplement the aural experience.
So what does this mean for the KS Clash Evos? In a nutshell, they are the Bluetooth equivalent of my other headgear. I'm pretty blown away to be be honest. Fed with high quality samples they're brilliant. The sub bass is brilliant, but they have also have a real punch too. And for closed design they have a startling "openness" or "airiness", and very wide soundfield to boot. I've also tested several pure grand piano tracks for clean tone experiences and, of course, complex chords and it's been a genuinely emotional experience! I'm quite blown away. I will say I've "only" owned cheaper Sennheiser, Portapros, several medium priced £50-£100 Sonys and Philips headphones as a reference, so read into it what you will.
Build feels very sturdy so far, and I went full retro and chose light grey which probably only look retro 80s cool to me, but I don't care.
You can listen over Bluetooth whilst charging which is a real bonus. I haven't yet sampled wired sound but with 10+ hours and charging whilst playing, not likely to use it except if away from charging opportunity whilst on holiday etc. I did buy it for Bluetooth after all, but it's my favourite regardless of the mechanics of signal supply.
The included Case is superb to chuck in a bag and not fear for your precious investment. And the manual covers the essentials clearly.
The controls are ergonomic and feel nice to use and work flawlessly with my iPhone 5s.
They are very comfy with strong pressure on the outer ears spread evenly across the plush pleather pads. Isolation is very good (closed back) and therefore leakage is also next to nothing.
Conclusion: I have a new benchmark of musical love, and will now be "forced" to spend weeks and months going through my back catalogue and loving my tunes all over again. It's also increased my utter respect for Kitsound, from whom I'm still loving their epic Boomdock. Magical.
Durability: Have bought three pairs, only due to losing the first two over many trips. No plastic joints in particular to fatigue. Pads stay strong. Very good. Best part is that the cable is removable so can be replaced - this is the most common fault with headphones I've found. Bluetooth battery is fair, although I don't use it as much as the quality can't match a cable.
Quality: Sound wise I've tried many headphones and these are 'good'. A bit bassy but touch up in Spotify settings they're a treat.
General: As others they fold up which is great. Look smart in black.Good battery. If you can get an 'opened but as new' pair they are an absolute steal around £35-40. Don't bother wish Marshalls or anything under £150 with a pair of these.
In conclusion, the hedphones are of hgh quality, however, the designers shouldve taken more care about the microphone sensitivity and tested it more.
I purchased these headphones at £29.99 & they look great, sound great perfect for gym , commuting or just at home. The handsfree is not great if you are out and about but at home with no background noise fine.
Very happy customer!
