This book in the series is primarily about Katie and Shane. Also how Maddie and her husband get through the awful happening that occurred to them. Sad moments and happy moments in the book. This series is primarily about the Maccarthy family and close friends and all worth a read

As always as soon as you hit the second line of page one, you're already transported and immersed into Gansett Island and the ever growing McCarthy family. Bringing both tears and laughter and at times both at once, this book doesn't dissappoint and leaves you enraptured and longing for more!

Read via local elibrary. Have read rest of series. Enjoyed them. This one, not so much. Heat starts page 1. More heat in this book with multiple couples. Just felt the heat overwhelmed the story. Bad language - 6 instances of c..p in less than a page. Loads by the grandmother, adele. It was inappropriate from an elderly person and for this type of book. There are inconsistencies e.g. shane goes fishing for the afternoon, they return 3pm yet Frank has been fishing for the day. Shane catches 80lb bluefin tuna they're going to have for dinner. Either they're each going to eat loads or most will be wasted. Note, bluefin endangered, voted to be on CITES. (USA voted against). Also has loads mercury so eating loads wouldn't be healthy. In today's world, would have been better for character to catch a non controversial fish. Unfortunately this coloured my view of the book. I'm not sure if author's been encouraged to heat up her books with gratuitous sex and bad language but for me they're out of sync how her earlier books were. Also characters drinking to excess then driving whilst hungover = DUI.

What can I say about this series that hasn't already been said? Picking up Kisses After Dark was like revisiting old friends and staying for a holiday. I can't rave enough about the McCarthys of Gansett Island, and would encourage everyone to pick up this series and fall in love with these characters. After 13 books they have become a part of my life and with each book I become more involved in their lives, so that when I've finished I'm on the biggest book downer you can imagine. The central theme of the series is family and all that it encompasses, the love, the gentle ribbing, the loyalty and the support, it's what the McCarthys are all about. Shane and Katie' story was as wonderful as the previous stories. I loved that Katie could see in Shane all the qualities that she thought no man had, and that it gave her the strength to let down her barriers. They both had demons from the past that could easily have prevented them from getting together, but their willingness to let go of the past and the chemistry between them wouldn't allow it. I can't wait to see how they get on in the future. The one thing I love most about this series is that past characters aren't forgotten, we get to follow them as their lives progress, and in this book my heart broke for two of my favourite characters, Mac and Maddie. Poor Mac was so lost but it was a testament to the depth of their love for each other that they got through it. I can't wait for the next installment.

As a huge fan of this series, this is the first book I have gone into with some hesitancy as, and it still pains me to say it, the last book - Gansett After Dark, left me disappointed.

Cue the sigh of relief, as Kisses After Dark couldn't have been any further from this. Once again Marie Force has treated us to a wonderful trip to Gansett Island and the icing on the cake is it centralises around the McCarthy family once again. Shane McCarthy was a complete sweetheart, and Katie Lawry is the perfect woman for him. I loved them together, I loved the romance and I loved the content their families brought; Marie balanced this one perfectly - with so many residents and couples, many simply received a cursory mention ensuring we weren't bombarded with lots of smaller stories, which was my issue with Gansett After Dark. This was very much Shane and Katie's book, with a secondary storyline focussed around Mac and Maddie.

If you're a lover of the series, this doesn't disappoint in the slightest. I felt the characters joy and pain and with the foundations being laid for new chapters in the residents lives, I'll be eagerly awaiting my return trip to the island.

I loved Shane and Kate's story.. Poor katie has been through so much at the hands of her abusive father and its great to see her get her HEA...
Shane too has had a hard time, dealing with his ex-wife's drug addiction.. He came to Gansett island two years later to get away from things and see his sister and nephew.. saving a woman from drowning he realises she is Owens sister and they strike up a bond..

Thanks for another great installment in the Gansett Island saga. One of the things I love most about the series is that each a new episode has an exciting love story focus, whilst dipping in and out of the previously introduced characters lives. The way the islanders are written about makes me feel like I am visiting friends for a catch up and eavesdropping on some very intimate and personal situations. Another well written book which makes my heart smile. The friendship, passion, love and loyalty that I found within the pages reminds me of what is important in life. I can't wait to pre-order the next installment, so please keep writing them !
