Product description
Keep Your Raspberry Pi Cooler
Is the temperature of your Raspberry Pi showing some big numbers? Protecting your Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ from overheating is essential when you’re overclocking, spending hours retro gaming with RetroPie, or for any other resource hungry projects which can really test your single board computer.
This custom anodized black aluminum heatsink is here to help keep your Raspberry Pi cooler at all times. Reducing the temperature of your CPU and GPU will help your Raspberry Pi 3 model B+ perform at its peak, as well as reducing the risk of frustrating hardware failure and temperature based throttling.
Effective, Silent and Easy To Add
The large Raspberry Pi heatsink is designed for maximum heat dissipation and is a great silent passive cooling solution, completely eliminating the need for noisy fans to keep your Pi cooler.
With the help of just a few drops of thermal compound you can keep your Raspberry Pi model 3B+ from overheating with just a few simple steps. Just use the thermally conductive paste and screws in this kit to secure the heat sink in position and you'll be good to go.

i have been testing various heatsinks for pi's, as i run "a few" in a 24x7 environment at 100% loading (so temps do matter for me), and it does a REALLY good job at keeping the temps down - due to the simple amount of overall mass the heatsink has (it has the greatest surface area of all i have tested). i have tested many sinks: 11x11x5, 14x14x14 and even 20x20x10 and this trumps them all by atleast 8C if the case u use allows you to mount this thing then i would highly recommend it. it touches/sits on both the cpu and the usb chip so both benefit from the sink in place. cannot comment on the thermal paste, but the fact some is given is a positive. when mounted does not obstruct any of the connectors, so functionality of any of the interfaces whist in using this heatsink is not impaired.
so, why only 3 stars? my issue is the mounting mechanism. because i use the mounting holes to connect my pi's together with M2.5 nylon stand-offs i'm unable to use this heatsink. if a variant of this heatsink were to be developed where the mounting holes were not used/obstructed, and thermal tape supplied instead, this would be (for me) a 5 star product.
bought purely for testing, i guess i'm gonna have to dremel the mounts off and use some thermal tape (for my use-case)
overall: great product, does it's job good without interference of any connectors, needs a little redesign on the mounting used then would be absolutely perfect.

Ho guadagnato circa 13 gradi in meno.

This heat sink, still hits 70C thermal throttle inside a case, but the time to get there is significantly longer.
About 3 to 4 minutes, to be precise doing a CPU stress test,
About the same results with glxgears.
Which makes this sink your go-to for normal file transfers, and program loads.
Not suited for gamers or prolonged stress test situations inside a case.
The good thing is, my case has a 3.5" LCD screen built in, and the heat sink fits in just perfectly fine inside with the LCD!
Amazon Product: B07N38B86S
Out of a case, with a screen hat, the temperature seems to level off at around 67C vertical, and 70C horizontal (screen facing up) in about 6 minutes in a 77F room, which will definitely be performing worse than with no hat.
Speaking of cases, this will not fit in some cases. Cases with posts on the top cover that screw into the bottom may not work (the cover will be too high unless you shorten the posts). Cases with posts the board snaps onto may not work either (the heatsink mounts using screws in those holes). If you want to put this inside a case, check the fit carefully.
If you want your Pi3 covered and protected, I highly recommend the Flirc Gen2 case. It works well and looks awesome. If you want your Pi 3B more open and accessible, this Kintaro heatsink is what you want.
The only downside is it won't fit most cases, and anyone wanting to use it in something like a nespi need to look elsewhere. Thermal compound is sticky enough where it may be fine if you hack off the parts where the screws go. Though if you do that you may want a thicker stickier paste like IC diamond. Might try to give that a go later to see.
Works even better if you place a small fan near it
However, the screws that came with the kit did not work for my enclosure. I had to buy m2 bolts with nuts to fasten the heatsink to the pi3 PCB. Then i modified the enclosure with the dremel tool to allow the heatsink to clear the edges.
I did notice about a 10 degree C difference in CPU temperature drop. When I purchased the heatsink, I was aware of the required modifications but i was worth it!

I have a RPi3 (older non plus) housed in an adafruit case. I drilled a few holes for the mounting screws, and it fit perfectly.
Temps are now under control. I was getting over heating issues when running a plex server, but this cooler fixed that for me.
