Product Description
Expanded Storage for Tablets and Smartphones
Kingston's DataTraveler microDuo Flash drives provide additional storage in a small, convenient form factor for tablets and smartphones that support the USB OTG (On-The-Go) functionality. The USB OTG standard allows mobile devices to directly connect to supported USB devices.
DataTraveler microDuo Flash drives allow microUSB ports, often used for charging devices, to be used as expansion ports for additional storage. Ideal for storing large files while traveling, DTDUO gives plug-and-play functionality to tablets and smartphones without microSD ports at a lower price per GB than the extra built-in storage on a mobile device.
With smartphones and tablets recording HD video and taking higher resolution photos, space on these devices gets used up quickly. DTDUO Flash drives let users move files, photos, videos and more -- without plugging into a PC* -- to offload or back-up content. Sharing large files between mobile devices is easy, and there's no need for a cable to transfer data between the device and a PC.
Available in USB 2.0 or USB 3.0, DT microDuo Flash drives are small, lightweight and easy to take anywhere, plus their sleek design complements any mobile device. The rotating cap protects the microUSB connector from damage.
Stay constantly connected with MobileLite Wireless G2. It functions as a portable router with a built-in Ethernet port for broadband Internet on the go. MobileLite Wireless G2 can also bridge to other Wi-Fi Internet connections when direct connect isn't an option.
*File manager app required for file transfer. ES File Explorer available for download on Google Play. Android and Google Play are trademarks of Google Inc.

It's surprisingly small in size, so it's perfect for OTG without worries of breaking the stick when it's plugged into your phone.
I've attached a couple of images comparing the size of this thing to my other USB stick, a Sandisk Cruzer Facet 16GB which is the size throughout it's length of the USB plug.
Moving forward I really hope this thing lasts as it feels a little on the breakable size when it comes to removing it from a standard USB socket (theres very little to grip).
And remember, don't miss the little attachment for your key ring which is hidden within the paper inlay, could be easily missed if you are the kind that opens and uses without reading any information (like me).
Overall a great little stick which I'm very happy with, and if anything changes I will of course update the review in due course.

Copy files to it, plug it into the Nexus 7 and use a file manager (such as ES Explorer) to then copy over to the device itself. It also works well when streaming video from the stick to the device (even HD content). The stick itself feels really cheap and I'm not sure how long it'll last...the mechanism which 'hides' the micro-USB end is clever, but relies on a kind of hinge which I can definitely see breaking somewhere down the line (especially, as this part of the drive is the only place to grab it, when removing it from a USB port).
That aside, I really can't understand what is going on here with the READ and WRITE speeds. I've read many of the reviews here and somebody who also gave this 3 stars, posted an image showing over 100MB/s READ and 42MB/s WRITE speeds...other people are experiencing anything from 5-20MB/s when writing. I've not been able to get more then 12MB/s write and 18MB/s read speeds from this, which isn't even USB2 territory. How Kingston can say this is USB3 is beyond me; I own their standard (i.e. non-DUO) micro Data Traveler and it's also really slow.
I don't know what the differences are between those people getting the speeds I've seen and those with above USB2 speeds (O/S differences, manufacturing differences?) but as it stands, this is a half-decent DUO stick, even if it is on the slow side.
I love the way it so easily transforms from a USB-A device into Micro USB-B to use in my phone/tablet/laptop, with the flip over cap protecting the port not in use.
I travel abroad often, so this was perfect to store a few movies and extra music for the flights, because let be honest, those airline TV Monitors and the headphones that come with them are just absolutely terrible. ;)
Speeds whilst in a USB 3.0 port are not as great as standard pen drives but good enough for its purpose of not needing many of those unreliable OTG Cables I have gone through with loose connections.
Transfer speed in my phone/tablet were obviously much better than when using faster 3.0 pen drives with OTG cables, so very happy indeed.
Works in USB 2.0 ports too, as the standard of your phone/tablet would most likely be.
I initially would have rated it at 4* for the slower than expected transfer speed, but for the convenience, capability and quality of what it's built for, 5*'s it is!
Screenshot included is a benchmark taken via my laptop (hp dv7 6b51ea) with a USB 3.0 port.
Would very much recommend this option if you use OTG cables often, it really removes the hassle of a pen drive dangling from your portable device and with the worry of it falling off/getting lost/losing connection e.t.c.
Buying another now, as my little sister uses it often whilst travelling when i want to!
