About the Author

Stephen Deas was born in 1968. He once set fire to Wales. Well one bit of Wales. Twice. When not burning principalities, he played too much Dungeons and Dragons. Despite this he managed to study theoretical physics at Cambridge, get a job at BAE, marry and have two children. He now lives in Essex.

As this only appeared on my Kindle yesterday and I have already finished it, it is clear that this falls into the page turner category. In this book Berren very definitely grows up and, as is usual for the lead character in a Stephen Deas novel, life is pretty tough. Plenty of action all the way through. The only problem is that I am ready for the next one now!!

the pace was walking for most of the novel until the end where it was clear the author wished to finish as soon as possible.

the ending was tragic and the climax was the unvalling half way through the book.
Deas obviously picked the last few chapters out of the blue with a unsatisfying fight scene and out of character movements so you had a bad villian speech.

if you enjoyed the first novel just leave it at the second book.

any ending you can imagine would be better than Deas's dreadful effort.

This series is quite engaging and I have enjoyed it. It's not "great", but if he publishes a forth in the series, I will buy it.

Good follow up to the two proceeding books with the plot, action and diverse character's you'd usually expect from Stephen.
