Requirement: Store a small database on a Raspberry Pi, connecting via a SATA to USB adapter.
Three times I copied the database to it, using two different SATA to USB adaptors. Three times database corrupted wthin hours, also losing the filesystem to corruption in two cases which takes some doing. Eventually I installed some diagnostics software. The smartcl tool was unable to complete any SMART self-tests, badblocks reported 360 failures. The device ran stupidly hot too.

The only saving grace is that Amazon did a full refund. I subsequently replaced it with a Transcend disk that has run perfectly so far.

These are cheap, very cheap... But they work really well. I use them for installing Linux on re purposed computers and all have been excellent so far. Installed everything from Linux Mint, Slax to Ubuntu, formatted in EXT4 and the important thing (to improve life of any SSD) is NO SWAP space. And that is probably the reason Windows will probably kill any SSD - swap space (or dynamic space etc. etc.). Having no swap space means it limits the writes to the drive which = extended life.
Ubuntu installed and up and running in 10 minutes on this, boot from off to desktop in about 15 seconds.
I haven't had one fail, but they have 3 years warranty which appears to be good.
If yo want windows, look at the 120Gb or 240Gb drives as a minimum.

I put this in my ageing MacBook Pro from mid 2012 (Pre-retina) and it has made the machine feel much snappier and it takes about 12-15 seconds to load the OSX now rather than the 30-45 seconds it took before which is nice, and the heat coming from my MacBook Pro seem's to be reduced quite a bit. Obviously there is still heat coming from the CPU and such but it doesn't get as hot anymore, and I seem to get a bit more out of the battery per a charge as well now, not hours but enough to notice a difference I'd say about an extra 30'ish minutes which is a nice bonus. I also like the fact that it comes in a box which is no more than required yet still manages to protect the hard drive while looking smart at the same time. As for durability I have only had it a couple of weeks so far, but it has not put a foot wrong, and being a fair amount cheaper than the competitor companies offerings I thought even if it only last's a couple of years it's not a bad deal in my opinion! As usual when migrating software from one place to another, don't forget to backup files you want to keep safe!

Great value and everyday performance

Performs as expected, boots up Windows 10 in just a few seconds.
I personally don't see the point in spending much more on anything faster for day to day use / gaming.

180gb is an unusual capacity, but suited me for loading the OS, Star Citizen (for what it is worth at the moment - which does actually need an SSD) and standard office type apps.

All my other games are stored on a standard 2TB 7200 HDD, which is more than fast enough I guess if you play a lot of multiplayer that deliver you to the play area as soon as you are ready, you may want to install those games on an SSD (as it will get you there a bit quicker). You may want to look at a higher capacity drive if you have a few of those games.

Your game may load 1-2 seconds quicker, but it really wont make much difference. There are some vids on YouTube to show this.
If you are on a workstation, rendering or video editing, that may be a different matter.

I had previously bought a couple of SSD's that included adequate software for a one off PC upgrade. Also made in China, they were badged under a "big name". This looked to be a great value SSD as it wouyld give me an extra 60Gb for roughly the same price as a 120Gb option from another manufacturer. However, this had no software included and i eventually went through 4 different freeware programs before i found one to clone and simultaneously downsize an old netbook HDD. Having tried Acronis, Macrium and EasUS freeware in turn, and without success I found AOMEI Backupper Standard, which worked a treat. I now have a silent and quicker netbook thanks to the combination of this SSD and the AOMEI software. If i ever have a similar task to perform I would make sure i have the software i need in advance as the notional savings made on buying this excellent value SSD are far outweighed by the time and effort spent on getting hold of software. My mistake, but not the fault of KingSpec, who seem to have done a decent job with the 180Gb SSD i bought.

This is perfect for those who want to give their old laptop some bonus life but don't have the capacity to spend money on a drive larger than this. The value here is excellent, although I must admit that it does feel somewhat flimsy. Whilst I was mirroring my HDD over to this it actually died, so I installed Windows onto it for the first time and setup took far less time than I thought it would, taking only about 10 minutes in total. I can be on my desktop in around about 25 seconds now, depending on how fast I type my password in, but it takes less than 10 seconds just to get to the log in screen.

I've had this product for less than a day so I can't comment on performance degradation or longevity, but I can say that it is great value product.

Cheap and not bad

This is my 5th ssd from kingspec, 4th in the 2.5 size and while the others have been spot on(2 x 64gb have, got a 128gb I’ve not tested yet), this one didn’t detect properly at first, couldn’t use it to install windows, ended up having to use it as a 2nd drive to format it for use, not used it yet, but hoping it works, not the first time I paid £15 for one of these drives, but I buy them because they cheap.. I would say if you need a cheap ssd boot drive then keep an eye on theses, I got the 128gb version when it was like £25 or less rather than being 30 plus and these 60/64gb tend to drop down to £15 now and then..
