Even the great Michael Caine can't rescue this turkey, and so he doesn't try; his character, like all the others, is flat, 2-dimensional, wooden and just not believable. I sincerely hope he's at work on another film as I'm writing, for to have this poor excuse for a film round off a distinguished career would be a monumental shame.
Overall the film comes across as sad; formerly respected and quality actors reduced to this trash; like watching Laurel and Hardy in 'Atoll K', you feel bad for even looking.
And will a braver soul than me please tell Ray Winstone that standing there glaring and swearing does not amount to acting.
Starring m cain, gambon, courtney and other A type stars, funny crude, swearing constantly how they turned on each other, the police operation which i thought was brilliant. Where the police are about to move in on their gang, was hysterical shouts of "dont f" "" "move" move! Brian couldly hardly walk, and as the armef cop on the garage stalking courtney, courtney plays the guy whose stone deaf as courtney walks away from his car, the cop fumbles his magazine it falls onto the floor and courtney is totally oblivious and carrys on walking into his house. Classic
