I have already got two other tablets, a 10 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and a 7 inch Alcatel Pop One Touch ( which I signed up to on impulse while in the EE shop for something else. With 10gb of data included, I thought it was a good deal.)
The reason I wanted this Kindle Fire was for reading books. The Alcatel screen resolution was so poor I couldn't read for long without my eyes hurting. I got the 4G version so I could put my data SIM in.
This model came with a Vodafone sim. There was a link on the home screen to pay for data. As I was using my own SIM I deleted the link. I had to Google how to put my own SIM in, but it was quite easy when I watched a YouTube video.
The screen resolution of the HDX is amazing. Much better than my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone even. Perfect for reading.
As this is not just a reading device I've found myself using it to watch videos on Amazon Instant, for which there is a link at the top of the home screen. I treated myself to Amazon Prime after using the HDX for a few days.
Before I turned on the HDX I applied a screen protector which I had bought at the same time. This has anti reflective properties and cost about £11 I would fully recommend using one to improve your experience of this device.
I have had the device since Christmas and it has frozen a couple of times, I just turned it on and off again to solve the issue.
As I bought this when it was on offer for cyber Monday , it came with the special offers included. These are not as obtrusive as I expected, they are only on the Lock Screen. You can pay £10 to have it removed but I don't think I will bother as they don't really bother me.

I am a little biased as I love all things Amazon/Kindle but this was a Christmas prezzie to myself , I already had the previous version with less storage, I can honestly say I use it all day everyday for reading, watching Amazon Prime/Netflix & using the internet/social media/emails etc.. Obviously to fully enjoy these you need an Amazon Prim subscription (WELL worth the money and includes the Prime films/tv shows, free Prime next-day delivery etc) £79.99 for the year I think it is now, a Netflix subscription (I think that is about £6 a month??) and wi-fi to connect to.
Everyone should absolutely have one of these....more than one if you can afford it ;)

Having sworn NEVER to buy a tablet, the special deal on this twisted my arm and the main reason for the purchase was to have a device that I could stream my Amazon Music straight to and for it to be portable as I was going to use it with my AKG 702 headphones when I didn't want to be tied to my computer. I have around 500 albums stored on Amazon Music, so I doubt I will every get bored using this! I must say that the battery really lasts well under these circuances.

The screen is stunning and the output to the headphones is more than enough to power them. The quality of the audio output is brilliant and although it's slightly heavier than my Kindle Touch, reading Kindle Books on it is a pure delight!

Because of the use I was going to put it to, it's doubtful if I could have justified spending the full price, but the deal made up my mind for me and I'm blown-away by how great it is, particularly for the uses I wanted to put it to.

This is my third Kindle, I have the Kindle Paper White and also an 8.9" Kindle Fire. I love it, but I wanted a small tablet which could fit in my pocket and I would be able to walk around and listen to my music which is important to me. I was a bit worried that I might have problems getting my music, books, photographs etc. loaded onto the smaller Kindle Fire, but it was absolutely no problem, I downloaded everything from my personal "cloud" in about an hour, it was so simple I was amazed, everything was virtually done for me. Being a person who is in my late sixties, although I have had computers from virtually day one, I can sometimes be confused with today technology, but the Kindle Fire is fool proof. I speak of someone who has had an apple ipad in the past, but I was so frustrated with that machine, I broke it up and put it in the bin! I also own an apple ipod which is never used now because the Kindle sounds so much better. I had thought that the smaller Kindle might not sound as good as my 8.9, but I need not have worried, it sounds just the same, brilliant.
I have always moaned that todays technology is still not user friendly after all these years, but the Kindle Fire tablets are superb.
I do have one regret about the smaller Kindle Fire, and that is it does not have a rear facing camera like its big brother, so if I
want to take good pictures, I still have to go out with my 8.9" Kindle Fire. I have owned quite a few nice cameras in the past, and I was staggered by the quality the Kindle 8.9" gave me.
Still after that little moan, I still have to give the Kindle Fire 5 stars. It knows all about me, if I lost it, I know that I have all my music, photos etc. protected on the "cloud".
What a shame it doesn't have a rear facing camera, if Amazon comes out with another version of this 7" model, I will buy one.
