From the Manufacturer
Pearls come in many shapes and sizes. As a natural product no two pearls will be completely identical therefore sizes are given with a minimum size plus a half millimetre tolerance to allow for slight differences. Round pearls are measured across their widest point while drop shaped pearls are measured at the widest point across their width, not their height.
Pearls come in a variety of colours and within each colour there are many shades. Akoya pearls occur naturally in white and cream shades. Freshwater pearls occur naturally in white, cream as well as pink, peach and purple (described collectively as natural coloured). They are also often dyed black, blue and grey.
The shine radiating from a pearl is its lustre. It is an effect caused by light reflecting through the many layers of nacre which build up to create the pearl. A high lustre is vital to the beautiful look of pearl jewellery and therefore Kimura Pearls only utilise pearls with a high lustre.
Unlike diamonds and other precious stones where inclusions and marks within the stone are judged, pearls are judged on their surface quality. Some pearls are entirely blemish free however most have some small marks, as pearls are created by a natural living creature these marks are to be expected - consider them the pearls birthmarks.

Not the quality we were expecting. The clasp is non existent and the pearls are not of sufficiently made, they almost look like plastic.Published on 12 May 2014 by Prus Dad
