A group of young, speed-freak pilots make a killing by transporting crystal meth across the Mexican border in their supersonic planes. Chasing the adrenalin-fuelled Hollywood lifestyle of girls, parties and endless stacks of cash, they take ever greater risks. But when they are asked to fly in their biggest shipment yet, 900 pounds or $2.7million - of meth, their antics attract the attention of the FBI that wants to smash the supplying Mexican cartel. Caught up in a deadly and duplicitous game of cat and mouse, the fly guys are about to run their craziest mission yet. A high octane mix of Fast & Furious and Top Gun, Kill Speed stars Goldberg (Ex WWE Champion), Greg Grunberg (Heroes, Lost), Robert Patrick (Walk The Line), Tom Arnold (True Lies) and the Backstreet Boys Nick Carter.

This is a straight-to-DVD release and as a result doesn't feel quite as polished as the usual fare, some of the scenes are laughably absurd as the script just doesn't hold water, especially the police back and forth. Aside from this, there are some brilliant shots of single-engine turbo-props powering across the desert, just feet from the floor - exciting and well filmed.
Herein lies the problem, whilst the flight-chase scenes are nail-biting stuff the padding inbetween them just feels exactly that - filler. Couple this with some inane dialogue and you are left with a film that feels like it wants to be a plane-version of Gone In 60 Seconds but is let down by ham-fisted acting and a ridiculous script, although the soundtrack is decent and serves the film well. Did I mention Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys stars in this? No? Oh.
Recommended if you are into high-octane planes and like films that involve drawn-out chase scenes. A good effort, but falls far short of the classics like Vanishing Point. If you have time to kill then check it out.
Although Kill Speed may not set the film world alight with a purely original plot and script, it dishes up what is liked and wanted of this sort of film - fast cars, fast girls, fast planes and explosions!
With a great cast, a good premise and jet-propelled 'bangs' Kill Speed is worth a watch. Admittedly this isn't a film I would have gone out of my way to watch in a cinema BUT it was a pleasant surprise when I watched it on DVD.
By no means a 'I-wish-I-hadn't-watched' movie and a definite worth a view for anyone who likes The Fast and the Furious.
5/5 for simple, unadulterated, 'high-octane' packed movie action.
I assume this wants to be "The Fast And The Furious", with jets instead of cars, but it fails on so many levels that it even makes Paul Walker's turn in "2 Fast 2 Furious" seem like a masterclass in acting and tension.
