Product description

From the Inside Flap

He came to the valley of the whispering wind a man who rode with the caution born of riding long on strange trails in a land untamed and restless with danger. Kilkenny could find no peace in the valley, for he came with a reputation for a lightning draw. Eager gunmen arose like coyotes to test him. One trigger happy victim was a Tetlow. Old man Tetlow was a hard man driven by greed to build a cattle empire. Now he would use every ruthless killer he could hire to fulfill an even more powerful urge--to destroy Kilkenny.

Another magnificent tale from the master when it comes to his writing of the west. Thoroughly enjoyable story and his description of the wild and beautiful country is fantastic. A book that all western lovers should read.

I agree with the first reviewer.
As good if not better than most of Sackett books and one of a trilogy.
I am always looking for paperback westerns of this quality. They are hard to find.
Great Gunman basically.

As expected, another great Western by L'Amour. I find his stories very relaxing before going to sleep each night and just " switch off.". His character descriptions are wonderful and together with his detailed descriptions of the countryside you can imagine what the old West must have been like at that time. I love his descriptions of fist fights and gun actions. Nobody ever seems to have come near his writing for them. The unfolding of the hero's romantic involvement is well entwined and L'Amour certainly does his characters " warts and all". I would never hesitate to recommend his stories as they are so well written.

If you like westerns like I do then anything written by Louis
Lamour is worth considering. This is third in the Kilkenny books and is every bit as good as the first two. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Really good ending to the Kilkenny series and possibly the best. Thoroughly enjoyed all three books and liked the way the main character developed. Cain looks like a book could have been written about him too.

Louis Lamour the best western writer "period" lived up to Lamours' reputation of painting a description of the pioneers and the hardships endured in those days.
