This is a lovely looking kitchen which should keep your children transfixed, however be aware that as with most china made stuff the quality of the fixings is poor. Take lots of care when screwing together as the threads in the cross dowel nuts are not a true match to the bolts so thread them together before assembly to free up and then go careful as they are too small for the holes in the wood and will twist and rip if overtightened. Cam lock threads are also cut to small and dont grip properly. These may sound like small things but ruin what could be an excellent product. Price does not reflect the expected quality!!!!

our daughter is 2 1/4 she adores this kitchen.
we bought it for her at christmas.
it was not the easiest kitchen to put together it comes in many pieces but at least every piece was labeled unlike adult self assembly.
So dont leave it until last minute.

she loves playing with the microwave oven
the only downside on this is not all the buttons and controls work on
the kitchen and kids do love pretending to twist and turn knobs to make it more real.

BUT well worth the money

Bought by my daughter and son in-law as a Christmas present for my grandaughter who is 2yrs 7mths. To keep the Retro Kitchen a surprise for the big day it was delivered to my home and I have just completed its construction from its 'flat pack' delivery.

My impressions, despite an almost 3hour task to complete its assembly, is that it is a well designed and sturdy product that justifies its cost.

The assembly booklet at first looked very daunting but once all the component parts, which were individually wrapped, were removed from their packaging it became apparent that each piece had an identifying number stuck to it and the instructions became very easy to follow. The pictures in the booklet were clearly set out in a simple step by step sequence and this together with its variety of bolts, lock nuts and screws clearly labelled on a 'blister card' made the assembly very straight forward.

The finished product is quite impressive. Its solid wooden and metal components will, I am sure, make it a very enduring present that will give lots of pleasure for a very long time to come. Can't wait to see it in use.

I purchased this kitchen and requested for the speedy delivery between 8am-1pm. It came at 7:59, which was excellent. My son and daughter took a long time to assemble it, as it was complex in places.. but wow! It is definitely worth it and I have submitted pictures with my grand-daughter using it. She LOVES it and continually checks on it! There are loads of retro accessories that can be purchased separately and it came with accessories too! A real treat in the world of role-play for the little ones xx

Purchased this for our 2 and a half year old daughter as a christmas present (2011). She was thrilled when she saw it on Christmas morning, got stuck into playing with it straight away. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the assembly of it as I left this to my father to do but I hear from him that although it took over two hours the instructions were very detailed and straight forward, a reflection of the quality of this product not some cheap plastic tat that pops together in 2 minutes and breaks 5 minutes later. This item was expensive but is definitely worth the money, it will have plenty of use in years to come. I did have a job finding pans/utensils to go with it and ordered a couple of sets, one being Roleplay Children's Kitchen Cooking Set / Casdon 502 15 Piece Toy Pan Set (both sets are identcal just different names) this set was so cheap and the utensils were totally out of proportion with the pans. The image shown was not representitive of the actual product. However I returned them and purchased Champion - 17-Piece Stainless Steel and Non-Stick Junior Cooking Set (Half-Scaled) and was thrilled with it, the set really complemented the kitchen, the whole thing looked fantastic when set up. I also ordered the Chad Valley Kettle and Toaster set and the Chad Valley 106 piece food set.

Very well made, attractive and just what we were looking for. My 3 year old and 1 year old love it and it will last many years. It is expensive but I think for a main present and for long term use, its worth it.

Not a cheap kitchen but really great. We've had it now for 2 years, my now 4 year old daughter still adores it (as does her 8 year old cousin). It has pride of place in a tiny bedroom and I don't see it moving for years yet. Apart from the ample cupboards to store her bits and bobs in she uses the microwave the most and likes turning things around with the little knob under the microwave. The phone is a nice touch and much played with. As well all the cupboards there's a cute little shelf and the top can be used for kitchen storage as well, the amount of places to put things is a big hit with my daughter.

The only downside is the cupboards are quite for strongly latched and were tough for a 2 year old to open and close, so be prepared for slamming doors. Also the photos of it does make it appear larger than it really is, but it is a nice size.

We had considered the ikea kitchen which is brilliant, but I'm glad we went with this instead (although nowhere near as easy or satisfying to put together as Ikea furniture!).
