Everone has a band.A band you were first into.A band whos music stays with you for years and years.Kicking up a Racket is a book about my band. But if you think this is just another SLF book think again .This is THE SLF book. From the very beginning when John Burns was dragged kicking and screaming into school till the custard pie fight on the stage at the Glasgow Apollo in 1983 (I was there ,still got the ticket to prove it)its all here. The final chapter briefly brings things up to date. It`s well written, well researched with some good early photos as well. Can`t say much more than that other than Roland..........HANX

This is a well researched book about a band that made quite an impact on me as a teenager.
I have found myself drifting back to this era and reading biogs like this to fill in gaps/aid my
fading memory
I guess the clash have never left me...and there are many comaparisons/similarities to be made between the two bands. One thing that SLF had was real anger in the voice and abrasive guitars..listening to inflammable
material truly blows out the cobwebs...
As a "story"...it's a familar tale of kids geting together at school...being buddies..playing in
aband...."making it"...imploding..
.reforming....splitting again.personnel changes...reforming.
Behind all this..you shoud also remmeber that this all happened in the late 70's early 80's when Belfast was
under "Heavy Manners"....
Enjoyable....get the albums out...we all know the first two are the best!!

Loved this! I was at a few of the gigs mentioned so it was good to hear what really went on behind the scenes.
A great purchase if you are a bit of an SLF diehard.

Very detailed research makes this THE definitive SLF history book. Some interesting stories and anecdotes.

Roland - when are you going to do the next book from 1983 onwards? Ian McCallum must be good for a few stories!
