I've had a bit of a love/hate/hate/love relationship with this book. But have no doubts about it this must - no is - the very best bodybuilding book I own, and I've owned a lot of them. I think Pearl would agree books are perhaps the worst way to learn anything practical, and bodybuilding fits in that category. I'd listen to Pearls DVD which contains an interview he did which should help suppliment this. But true understanding will only come from years of being into bodybuilding.

The book itself concentrates by implication on the notion of that of multi-angle training. You should vary you training often and do it so every angle of a musle gets hit. This took me so LONG to understand. I read lots about modern "High intensity" training whereby it says you should concentrate on 6-7 basic "bulk building" exercises. I think this loses the point. Most of these books are written by guys who never really built a good body. I agree with the bulk exercises but they miss that learning how to do all available exercises is just as important, that a person into bodybuilding worth his salt would know how to do all the exercises.

If you want to be a competent bodybuilder, buy this book. It's expensive, but worth it. Arnold said in his bio that he was mad for collecting lots of different exercises for attacking his muscles from every angle. Well if only this book was available to him back then!

Learning ALL weight exercises does the following:
- Adds variation so you won't get bored.
- Allows you to hit the muscles and micro-angles and learns you the famed "muscle mind connection" whereby you get in touch with what part of the muscle you are training.

Bill Pearl inspires and give practical advice for those brave enough to push their limits and pack on the hard muscle. Pearl made it to the top despite swimming against the tide of convention (champion bodybuilders cannot be vegetarian, for example)
There are good tips and detailed sections on training, exercises, and diet. Worth twice the price.
