Roberts is indeed a word artist. ("Los Angeles Daily News")

Roberts is indeed a word artist. (

"Smart but struggling single mom Zoe is an appealing heroine whose working-class grit finds a perfect foil in Brad's patrician confidence. Scenes involving her feisty son, Simon, temper the story's mysticism with humor, and the joining together of the trio as a family is genuinely moving. When it comes to combining sweetness, sexiness and the supernatural, Roberts proves once again that she is the most powerful spellbinder of all."

Ms Roberts excels herself and previous trilogies with the last in the series, Key of Valor.
The storyline was witty, the interactions between Brad and Simon were a joy and the chemistry/conflict between Zoe and Brad was very touching and real.
Add to the mix the deepening friendship between the three women and their respective men, the setting up of Indulgence and lets not forget Kane and the desperate race to get the final key and you have a recipe for some magical reading.

Ms Roberts excels herself and previous trilogies with this novel, the last in the series, Key of Valour. It follows Key Of Light and Key Of Knowledge and yes, you have to read them in order or you will be lost!

Add to the mix the deepening friendship between the three women and their respective men, the setting up of Indulgence and lets not forget Kane and the desperate race to get the final key (as he's changed all the rules) and you have a recipe for some magical reading.
Highly recommend.

This the third & final book in a trilogy. It is not a stand a lone book so you do need to read the other two & in order to become clear about the story line. Three women meet never having known each other before. Three Demi- goddesses with their souls taken from them & put in a box by Kane ,a sorcerer , behind the Curtain of Dreams. These 3women have been chosen to set the souls free by finding 3 keys in which to unlock the box. This book it's Zoe's turn- the mother. She has to keep her son Simon safe. The gods promise to keep him safe above anything. But then there is Brad. Through out these books each woman meets the man who is to help her complete her task. The men all know each other, are in fact life long friends. Nora Roberts has used Celtic myth, lore, fate, all in the mix to very good effect. They were a quick read but then a longer reread for me. A really great pleasure.

Key of Valor is fitting end to the Key trilogy. It lacks the wonder of "new" of the first book, and does not back the emotional pack of the second, but it sustains the series end ends it with style. The thrill of paranormal books is being able to set your own rules and boundaries, and Roberts handles this with skill and fun.
They three books really need to be read together and in order, for it's very clear Roberts presumes you have read the book(s) that came before with each. But they are fast reads, enjoyable reads, and you are coming late to the series, as I have, you have the chance to read them all at once instead of waiting between installments.
This is some of the best writing Roberts has done this decade, and it's exciting to see Roberts venture in to the paranormal element so strongly based on Pict-Celt lore and myths as the foundation.
In the final tale, the quest to find the third key falls to Zoe McCourt, the mother. It's clear to us, if not to Zoe, that her ability to finding the third key, to release the demi-goddesses from their imprisonment by the evil sorcerer Zane, is her ability to find love with Brad Vane. It's not easy for Zoe, a girl raised in a trailer park. Her father left her and her three siblings to be raised alone by her hairdresser mother. It was a rough beginning leaving a young Zoe to yearn for finer things in life. The path to that better life seemed to fall apart when at sixteen Zoe became pregnant. Once again, the man in her life deserts her, leaving her to make a life for her and her son, Simon. That the father of Simon was a rich boy only makes it harder for Brad ¯ a very rich man ¯ to convince Zoe he truly wants a role in her life.

Format: Mass Market Paperback
Three demi-goddesses are under a spell. They sleep in glass coffins, beyond the Veil. Their souls are locked away in the Box of Souls, which can only be opened by three keys turned by human hands. In each generation three human women are born who have the means to find the three keys and end the curse. Each, in turn, has one moon phase to find a key. If the first fails, game over. If the first succeeds, the second woman takes up the quest, and so on. If any of the three mortal females fail, they each lose an undisclosed year of her life. If all three succeed, the demigoddesses will awaken and each of the three human women will receive one million dollars.
The first two keys have been located. Zoe is now up at bat. Zoe's demigoddess is the warrior. Her truth is Valor and Courage. The fierce mother demands her nine-year-old, Simon, be protected from Kane. In no way can Kane be able to use Simon against Zoe and her quest. Rowena and Pitte are way ahead of Zoe there. Protection spells from them, as well as, from other gods behind the Curtain of Dreams, were weaved around Simon immediately upon the second key being found. Simon's protection is guaranteed.
However, there is still Brad. No matter how much Zoe battles to guard her heart from Brad, she is losing it. Even if she gave her heart to Brad, what about her son? How can Zoe trust Brad not to hurt Simon? Oh, not physically. But Simon clearly enjoys Brad's company. (And the game room from heaven in Brad's mansion is a young boy's dream!) If it does not work out between her and Brad, Simon could be emotionally hurt.
At the same time, Brad is definitely needed to help with the quest. Since Zoe has to find the very last key, Kane, the evil sorcerer, will do ANYTHING to make sure Zoe fails!
