About the Author

David Zethmayr began his musical formation as an Anglican choirboy in LaGrange, Illinois. As an eighth-grader he joined the 'cello section of the West Suburban Symphony by invitation, and three years later performed the Lalo Concerto with the orchestra. During high-school days he was principal 'cellist of the Riverside Chamber Orchestra and performed regularly in Bach cantatas at the Lyonsville Lutheran Church as sole 'cellist. As a performance major at Hartt School of Music (University of Hartford) he sang auxiliary roles in the Hartt Children's Traveling Operetta. During US Navy Electronics Technician training he sang in the Great Lakes Bluejackets Choir. Sang tenor in the Russian Orthodox Cathedral Choir for two years (in both Russian and English). A career software developer, he directed Russian and Ukrainian church choirs (a cappella) for twenty years in the Chicago suburbs, and was principal 'cellist in the Downers Grove Oratorio Society. Lead singer and 'cello player in the bluegrass Arkdale Ramblers and guest-appears with the White Eagle euro-polka band in the Adams, Wisconsin area. He writes children's a cappella music and folk-idiom songs. He also trims hooves for miniature horses and donkeys.
