Product Description

Review

[I]t is nice to see a book like this. A book that gives us beautiful buildings, something to inspire people and to show what architecture can do. These are buildings that stand the test of time and will continue to inspire new generations who will push what is possible even further.... for students to become inspired to reach for the stars.

About the Author

Richard Weston, an architect, landscape designer, and author, is professor of architecture at Cardiff University. His books include the monograph Alvar Aalto (winner of the 1995 Sir Banister Fletcher Prize) and the definitive monograph on the Danish architect Jorn Utzon; The House in the Twentieth Century; Materials, Form and Architecture; and Key Buildings of the 20th Century. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

The book is well written giving the impression of having a conversation with the author rather than just simply reading another textbook. Nice, consistent layout which makes it easy to get into the rhythm of going through the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy Paging through this Book 14 Feb. 2011
By K. Kaur - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Book features 114 buildings with a description written by an architect and a facing page of plan, section, elevation. Drawing pages include a scale and north arrow. Some of these buildings I mostly know from their elevations or a color photo. It was interesting to see the plans and sections. Easy to page through

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential buy for any college-level collection strong in architecture 19 Oct. 2010
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The second updated edition of Key Buildings of the 20th Century: Plans, Sections and Elevations remains an essential buy for any college-level collection strong in architecture. It comes packed with hundreds of architectural drawings and photos, includes classic works by many renowned architects, and offers new entries covering a range of building types. Students of architecture also receive a free CD-ROM offering digital files of all drawings featured in the book. It comes from an architect who offers accurate scale plans: all of which have been specially commissioned for this book, making this an exceptional, ongoing recommendation.
