For the price, the rower is of good quality and is composed of some heavy-duty components. The uploaded photos show that the unit does fold up (not mentioned anywhere), it comes with pre-packed nuts/bolts and its own build tools!

The build does take about 40 minutes and you need a bit of space to build the unit. Although the build manual is written in multiple languages, if you follow the instructions you cannot go wrong (the section in English has unusual spelling, but not a problem).

The main manual is also multi-language, but does give a good explanation on the various modes of operation. The display is of a good size (much better than the previous model) and the two AA batteries are included to drive the display.

Although it has not had extensive use yet, the action is smooth and feels good. When you're done, the unit has wheels at the back and can be easily moved to another location.

I have waited 8 months before posting a review so that I can give a longer term view of the rowing machine, It is a high quality piece of equipment sowing no signs of wear and tear in spite of being used 3 times a week. The tension settings are excellent, 1 being great for beginners with each step being a good progression. I believe it would do the business, on the higher settings, for people looking for a good workout. I would happily recommend it to people looking for any level of activity.
As much as I love the rowing machine, I have to say that the built in computer is rubbish. None of the information is reliable, the stroke counter, for instance, loses about 15 to 20% of the stroke and the other setting are also confusing and inaccurate. Shame..

Chose this after careful review of various rowers and good reviews on here, but !!!. 1st one received, packaging looked OK with little damage but on opening, removing and inspecting all components before attempting to assemble found large crack in the main body case running from front edge and down one side. There was no damage to the cardboard box in that area but there's only the side of the thin cardboard box against the side of the main body case, no other packing or protection between, so if anything heavy has been on it in storage or in transit may have caused it, but with no damage evident on the cardboard and no marks on the case other than it being cracked I would say it was packed and shipped from the factory like this. Amazon quickly supplied a replacement. Box for the second one received looked very battered and ripped and I feared the worse but no this one look all OK and undamaged inside. Assembled all OK. Its quite easy if your methodical with it with clear drawings and screws all labelled up on a card which is very good. I was initially very impressed with the build and quality of the product except for the computer screen which is poor - too small display and hard to see without light on it. Used for first 15 minute session on level 1 to start and then level 2. There seems plenty of range of tension available. It started to feel not quite correct at the end of first 15min - delay in tension on rope coming in at end of return stroke and starting next. - Had another go a few days later on setting 4 and after a few strokes tension suddenly failed when pulling and nearly shot off the seat. Wound the adjuster back to 1 and then on again and tension came back tried again and failed again after a few strokes. This happened a few times and then no tension at all on any setting from 1 to 8.Read more ›

Very pleased with this rower, we haven't used one before so can't compare to other brands but this one is lovely to use and looks nice for what it is too. We have ours in our lounge at present and it's non offensive for a large piece of exercise equipment.

Took me about 30 minutes to an hour to remove from packaging and put the whole thing together(with time for sipping tea in between each section). It was a doddle to set up on my own, instructions were easy to understand using the pics, corresponding screws/washers etc. clearly labelled attached to a large piece of card which was divided into sections so as not to get parts mixed up.

In use the rower is great, screen doesn't need to be plugged which is a bonus. Yes it isn't backlit, but it's clear enough and certainly has all the info there I can think you'd want(again, we're casual users). It's surprisingly quiet in use, unlike my fathers old one which I think was air assisted and by York and made a fair old racket, smooth action with a nice comfy seat(it's actually quite spongy, from the pic I was expecting hard plastic).

Only thing I wasn't entirely happy about was the rower we received was clearly a customer return(there were greasy finger prints and dirty marks all over the individual parts). We got it in the Black Friday promotion so a good price, but still it wasn't advertised as used or opened box(shouldn't this have been an amazon warehouse item?). I do like to know what I'm buying and good price or not it's nice to be clear you're buying a customer return before receiving such a large item that would be difficult to package back up, what if I'd been buying as a gift for instance?
