A good primer for business interactions. Short and to the point, well worth the price in my view. A bit more there and I'd have given it 5.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kenya and my Kikuyu firends 23 Nov. 2007
By Erika Warren - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I spent three months in Kenya living with people from the Kikuyu tribe working at an orghanage in Dagoretti Market. I wish I had read this book before going. Now I have a better understanding of Kenya and it's wonderful people. When I go back next year I will take the book and hopefully improve my ability to integrate closer. I still know very few words in Kikuyu!

Thank you for the information in this well written book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kenya culture smart is great 24 Jan. 2010
By Larry Hartke - Published on Amazon.com

I have a fair amount of experience working and traveling in Kenya, and I think the author has hit all the main issues a visitor should be aware of. It's not hard to get along in Kenya as long as one doesn't try to push western standards onto everything that occurs. This book will speed up the adjustment for anyone wanting to spend some time in one of the most beautiful and challenging countries on earth.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Neat Little Book 2 Feb. 2013
By M. Paul Holsinger - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
The entire "Culture Smart" series of books about various nations has long been one to consider seriously. Like this specific text about Kenya, there are sections in each about the history, the geography, the people, and many of the most important cultural peculiarities of those residents of the country. Jane Barsby, the author of "Kenya," a longtime resident of that nation herself, has done an excellent job of "touching all the bases" and has done so in a well-written and clearly discussed text, one to savior and enjoy. There is, however, a huge "problem" with this text: It is now badly outdated and desperately in need of revision, especially in regard to the politics and/or history of Kenya. For instance, this volume, published as it was in 2007, has, of course, no mention of Kenya's new constitution and that, alone, is a great drawback. Hopefully, especially after the upcoming presidential election in March 2013, the first after the ratification of the new constitution, Barsby will write and get into print a second edition. If so, a new review will almost certainly be a 5-star one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know in a few pages... 27 Jun. 2010
By W. Equitz - Published on Amazon.com

I ordered this book to get a bit more insight on the country since we are traveling there this summer on a mission trip. Our family found it easy to read and so interesting. I feel I am even more prepared for an amazing trip within a beautiful country and it's special people.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for outlining the basics of Kenya 1 Mar. 2013

Nice little book. Gives cultural background, political history, customs, etc. WE are moving to Kenya soon and this really helped with some of the things we have not thought about. Not a comprehensive book, but a good springboard for other investigation.
