5.0 out of 5 stars Kenya! 8 April 2013

I used this book to tell children at church about Kenya before I took a trip there. It is beautifully illustrated and does a great job giving an overview of the country for small children.
4.0 out of 5 stars Karibu! Welcome to Kenya! 29 Mar. 2015
By Richard and Liz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Jambo! (Hello in Swahili) Welcome to the country of Kenya in Africa. This book will introduce your child to twenty six facts and more about Kenya via the ABC's. On the first page, before the alphabet begins, the reader is shown on a map where Kenya is located. Did you know that more than thirty million people live in Kenya?

On each page of the alphabet there is an illustration and a paragraph providing details on the topic. Learn about the baobab tree, Kenya's flag, jewelry, a kanga and other clothing, the equator and much more.

At the end of the book there are instructions on how to make your own drum, a page of Fast and Fun Facts and five words to learn in Swahili: welcome, please, thank you, goodbye and okay along with the pronunciations. There is also a glossary and index provided.

Although definitely not a comprehensive book on the country your young child will get a good glimpse, hopefully whetting their appetite to do more research.

This book arrived in excellent condition and was exactly what I was hoping for. It is a gift for a two-year old whose father is from Kenya.
