If you are in business and attend networking events or even if you want to keep your clients details in order this is a first class product. It scans in details from your cards and files them into a mini database. It saves a great deal of time, works really well and when peoples details don't come through is easy and quick to manually add. In short it's a brilliant time saver.

What an excellant little scanner, complimented by the provided software. It is easy to use & allows you to modify any details that are missed. The download functions allow the data to be stored on palms & other windows CE based handhelds with ease.
To early to say whether reliability will be an issue, but so far so good & would certainly recommend this item to organise your business cards.

I was a bit sceptical about how accurate ocr would be. But this little scanner is one of the best tools I have ever bought. Not infallable and entries do need some checking and the occasional rework but worth every penny. Nigh on 200 entries in one session. Brilliant

The OCR is worse than hopeless. would be better if it recognised nothing, so you could just scan the card and not need to overwrite the gibberish it places in apparently random fields. The odd card works, so I know the device is at least functioning. The scans themselves are of poor quality, which I guess does not help the software. The only saving grace is that it does keep a record of the scanned card in the database, so having started, I suppose I will keep on using it. In general though a massive disappointment. This is a small, fairly crappy little scanner, with a contact manager. There is nothing smart going on. Do not believe the hype.

I bought this device several years ago, and it worked (just about) adequately under XP. At that time I didn't use Outlook, and it wasn't that easy to get the contact information out of the software and into a useful format without it. The quality of the optical character recognition wasn't fantastic anyway, needing a lot of manual correction. I'm not sure whether the PocketScan really saved me any time over and above manual entry from scratch.

Now I've installed Windows 7 x64, and decided to resurrect the scanner, in the hope that the most recent software had improved things. This turns out to be unfortunate. The latest and greatest software version from Kensington's site (for Windows 7, software version 6.21) doesn't detect the scanner's existence and, judging from comments in search results, the likelihood is that PocketScan is simply not compatible with 64-bit Windows 7.

This is very disappointing, to say the least. It's a product that's still on sale, and yet it isn't compatible with current Windows versions.

I'm sure there are better business card scanners out there now. I certainly wouldn't recommend this one.
