Right, firstly my set up is an iPhone 3gs, an Astra (CD30 with Aux in at handbrake) and fairly decent at technical stuff.

The Charger/Cradle
The charger goes in very deep and holds into the cigarette lighter better than any other charger I have ever used. I'm not sure how it's different, but it is in very well! The phone charges immediately and speedily, and did not disconnect over bumps. The cradle is satisfactory but of the whole outfit perhaps the least impressive, it just seems a bit plasticky, although does have a nice snug fit with the phone. The goose neck is not incredible and I found that I pretty much left it as it as was after a short and fruitless wrestle.

The Remote
Brilliant. Good control and even worked from about 7/8m away (pointless experiment!). It holds on so tight to the steering wheel with a rubberised inner and strong velcro lock. This was a real selling point for me. Bluetooth pairing already done, so no technical know-how needed here.

iPhone 3Gs
This works very well with Voice Control and is a real show off feature in the car. If you do get a call the ringtone comes through the handset and the call does also. You cannot get it to come through the stereo. Someone told me that future Apple firmware will give an option about changing this but I personally am not so sure.

Final Thoughts:
This is a very cost effective solution to integrating an iPhone into your car without losing quality. The sound was second to none and there was no inteference even when it was handling calls. Don't bother with non-wired FM solutions, I have twice and they're such a hassle, really not worth the effort. The wired FM ones are excellent, although then you don't have the benefit of the steering remote, it can't be swapped between cars and it will require stereo removal and potentially some drilling to get the ipod cable out.

Hope this helps.

It sits perfectly in my Mini and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Though sometimes my iPhone (3G) comes up and tells me the accessory is not supported, which prevents the remote from working but still plays through the aux out...

I think it could be a little better made for the price, plastics feel a little brittle, but we'll see how it stands up to the test of time.

This seems really well made, it's sturdy, and very stylish. It worked great with my 2G iPod Touch.... well... ish - it didn't power off when I turned the ignition off on my car. I'm not sure if it was a faulty device, or just the way the power is wired up in my car (2001 Polo GTi) but I wouldn't have been able to use it, since it would have flattened the battery. The other slightly irksome thing is that the holder is physically attached to the cigarette light attachment - and whilst the goose neck is really good - you're forced by the location of your cigarette lighter about where it is. This meant for me that it would have gotten in the way of the gearstick, and, since my cigarette lighter and ashtray is covered by a flap, the flap would have been open all the time.

Generally speaking a great bit of kit, but make sure it'll be suitable for your car. (Not to mention iPod capable head units are really cheap nowadays!)

Does what it says on the tin. Docks and links iphone to car's power and sound system giving good quality sound. Downside? On cars where the 12v power socket is by the handbrake rather than on the dash then the LiquidAUX Deluxe gets in the way of the handbrake and also the gearchange. The bendy stalk is not long enough to avoid this. Also, in this position the iphone screen is not visible whilst driving.

Nonetheless, it is OK and much, much cheaper than a Parrott which whilst much better does cost much more.

I bought this as I had a previous Kensington dock for the car also with a steering wheel remote (but without the holder), however the sound on that one stopped working after about a year.

This one has exactly the same steering wheel remote - which was handy as now I have a spare. The remote is the main reason I bought this - I like to listen to music from the phone in the car, and having a remote I can attach to the steering wheel is essential. That part is perfect, and the only reason I didn't sent it back immediately.

The down side however is the holder. It's extremely flimsy, mine has been held together with tape from day one, and has to be propped against the dashboard otherwise it flips down and holds the phone upside-down. The "arm" doesn't seem to be attached very well to the holder, or indeed the charger. As I said due to the remote I've stuck with it, but now the sound has started going - exactly what happened on my previous version. I'm now stuck with a taped together holder propped on the dashboard, with the aux cable unplugged and a separate cable from the iPhone aux to the stereo just so I can have decent sound back.

This gets one star for the remote only. I'm now going to try and get an alternative remote for the iPhone I can use in the car so I can bin this sorry excuse for a holder.

Bear this in mind - I drive a Multipla, and it's making my car look bad.

I have had a holder for the iPhone 3g for the past couple of years which plugs into the cigar lighter as does this one. I really don't need the AUX functioanlity as my head unit is BlueTooth Audio enabled, that said finding a holder that only charges has been almost impossible.

Onto the product itself, as others have noted it is a little plasticky, though it does seem to hold the phone quite tightly and charges fine - I suspect the "Device not recognised" errors will be down to dust and dirt getting into the connector (I have this happen on a number of iPod connectors - including ones from Apple).

It has a rubber grommet at the end of the cigar plug to ensure a very tight fit into the socket - I suspect this might cause problems as you really do have to use some force to make the electrical contact work.

It seems robust enough and does seem to work so far - I look forward to giving it a good run down over the coming weeks.
